Hey chaps

Really struggling here, my yr2000 Saxo VTR has not been running for a good few months now. Basically I think I'm at the conclusion of a locked ecu, But need to know why its locked and can it be unlocked by a "diy"er with a non running car? Car just turns over. Not firing, no power to coilpack or c.p.s when turning over.

So far:
coil pack changed
crank position sensor changed
fuel pump relay changed
mobile mechanic came out and checked various items, no power to coilpack or c.p.s and pointed toward ecu.
replaced ecu and imobiliser transponder unit etc
fuel ok
fuel pump ok
spark plugs new
all fuses checked
fuel filter changed
inertia switch linked out

So last thing is the locked ecu, really hope someone can help me with this and hope I've posted in the right place. Any guidance is greatly accepted

Is there a flashing key on the dash when trying to start the car, or when on 2nd click on ignition?

Morning people

No its not the immobiliser. Nothing significant has happened with the car. Battery went flat over the cold spell at start of year. Not started since.

It could be a loose earth onto the chassis maybe

Thanks for the replies everyone

I have been through the earths. Taken em off and cleaned them up. Think i got them all. Is there a diagram for them?

I don't think there is, but I think there is 2 on the chassis and one on the gearbox

Edit: When you changed the ecu and immobiliser, did you also change over the ignition barrel? If not then you have locked the ecu again

Thanks jones

Yes. Got a set off ebay. Changed key ring, transponder and ecu togeather. No flashing immobiliser light. When you say locked, what does it lock? All im picking up is that it its to do with immobiliser. Even an unlocked ecu means it doesnt need the immob units. Am i right on this? Or does it "lock" something else within?

Where are you located?
Could pop by and help if your local?

If there's no flashing ecu light then it probably won't be a locked ecu, but no it only locks the ecu and not anything else. Have you tried the fuel cut off switch located in the top right of the engine?

Cheers beanie but im in doncaster. So not too local.

Jones. Linked the inertia switch out, this is the thing. The fuel pump primes. Pretty sure of getting pressure at fuel rail. Just no spark?

You say that you have changed the coilpack, did you change it for one that has the same colour plug?

Nmmotorsport

Not sure on colour of plug. But the plug on the car fits, and there is no power to the coilpack when turning over.

Of you are sure it is that there's no power getting to the coil pack, it could be anything from a knackered ecu, to the ecu wiring loom, to the coil pack itself really, if you still have the old coil pack, check it still has the same plug colour

Ok will do, is there any diagrams of the ecu and its out puts, a schematic if you like, could then check the continuity of loom.
Thanks alot for all your input. Bad times!!

That's ok mate lol, it might be in the manual you get with the car, but I'm pretty sure it would be in the Haynes manual though, or maybe you could find it on google

Hey everyone

Firstly I would like to thank everyone for all the input into my problem, has really made me dig deep with the car and as a result I have learned plenty of new stuff.

Secondly, the car now runs, after numerous different directions of trying to find the problem I went back to the start. To keep it simple I started checking the loom and making sure things went where they should as per Haynes manual wiring schematic (which I might add tends to not give you the full picture and as usual colour cables not quite right and some items just not on the diagram) As the end result I found a supply to the fuel pump relay with only 10V on it, according to the diagram it should be spliced into another 12v supply at the relay which surprise surprise had 12v on it. So as simple as a bad joint. after repair car now runs as it did and at last I can carry on with the work I had planned.

So again just to thank you for helping me on my way, really appreciated.

Jon
