Hi guys i currntly have a Pipercross air filter on my car which has got a stainless steel pipe on there and from the box it droops down at the back of my engine. Most times when my engine has been on for a while and im in traffic or low moving traffic it normally over heats and then my fan kicks in.

What should i do???

Cheers for the response guys and nope ive checked all of the water/oil levels etc and always filled up never overflowing its just dead annoying, would it be practical installing the standard air filter back on or getting a pipe connected from the front of engine???

Im not really familar with saxos but i do like them super quick and look nice aswell.

The air filter won't affect the running temp of the car, though if your drawing warm air in you will suffer performance loss

The car coolant is cooled by air passing thru the radiator when your moving, once you slow down or get stuck in traffic the air flow decreases and the fluid temps rise!!!

So long as the fans cut in before the needle hits the red and the temps drop down you have nothing to worry about

Well yes its getting well over half way just before the red, and yh thanks Swampy thats what i have been told if the fan kicks in it will always cool it down and it has done every time it over heats.

Its just annoying and i fought the more air you get into the car the better it runs but the filter sits right low in the engine and didnt think it was getting any air.

So long as the fans kick in before the red and the temp drops I wouldn't worry about it

Ok nice 1 pal and is it a wise idea to get a pipe going to the air fileter from the front at all to give it more air or not??

dual fan setup if that's an option for you? :)

no saxo should ever need 2 fans to keep it cool if the engine is running properly

If its getting hotter, fan kicks in and it cools it sounds fine!

You could check the condition of the rad and change the coolant if it makes you feel better!

if its a big problem you could fit a flick switch to your fan, my old saxo had a doggy rad so if i was sat in traffic i could turn the fan on from in the cab, worked a treat
