fancy a set of pug sport group A cams and a group N ecu and i was wondering if they are worth it?
are they better than piper, kent and catcams?are they suited for fast road spec and what are the good points and bad points to them?

a cams a cam mate, if youve got the spec you can compare to the ones youve mentioned. if i was to choose id have one of the above and a chipwizards remap. how much you been quoted?

bare in mind the pugsport ecu will probs not pass an mot as it doesnt use closed loom control or use a knock sensor.

Kent PT51s or Catcam 708s plus a remap will see 155-160brake. The cats will give a touch more power, the kents give a bit more low down. Choice is yours

probally be the kents then would rather have the little extra lower down its all twisty roads round here
so is a set of kents a remap a 4-2-1 manifold an enclosed filter and a full pugsport exhaust an ok set up then?
i wont have to piss about with fuel pumps or injectors will i?

Shouldn't need to. I have PT51s in mine, have had forever. Fab setup

sure do but my vts used to be a vtr and pug performance put the vts engine so i think i'm better off selling the vts and starting fresh with a gti

I believe you mean the Mini Group A cams ,the combination you mention is very reliable,in fact plug n play, you will have no probs.Using a 206 1600 16v gasget to get some more compression you will be at about 150hp maybe even 155 flywheel.
You can get about 160-170with PT52 but you will have to search it more.

ps you won't need a new manifold ,just a racing cat and a 53-55mm diameter custom exhaust.

iirc the pugsport ecu does'nt have an idle control?
dont you need rebated pistons for pt52's aswell?
stentor

Not if you wont raise the compression a lot.But to be honest you will cause 52s need compression.

dont they have too much valve lift for oe pistons though?
stentor
10th August 2006, 22:25
I belive yes.I would't get a pair of 52s with oe pistons. That's why i proposed the Mini GpA PS cams. They got less power but no probs, and by fitting an xsi gearbox you could be faster :P

btw the PS ECU is not suitable for the 3plug ecu models (1600 16v after 2000)

what power do they make?
would 708s not be better for road use?
they generally make 155-160.
i hvae an xsi box :P its in bits though :(

Sorry mate i ve been on vacation.
The PS cams make about 150-155 but they have a great torque range (i ve seen it on a dynometer)
ps you broke the gearbox? The final ratio for the xsi is 4.29 while the 16v is 3,94 .Big difference (the 307 1.6 16v is shorter even shorter than a 1.3rallye)
you can just take this part of the xsi gearbox and press it to the Vts gearbox,*sorry i don't know its name in english*
