Looking to buy a vtr/vts in the very near future and because of mpg mainly I think it will be the 8 valver for me but how hard is it to swap over a decat pipe back to original for MOT time? Kyle

As said its pretty simple and easy to do. Just put the car on axle stands and swap them over.

depends if you've got the cat under the car. mk2 VTR's (after 2001??) have the cat in the manifold, so they either twat the crap out of the cat and put it back on, or fit a different manifold. if they've fitted a new manifold, your best bet is putting a cat in under the car, if the system allows it (IE: has a "decat" pipe in already)

Its 2000 onwards, although I may be mistaken but I think some very late 1999's also have them in the manifold.
My vtr is an X reg 2000 and its in the mani :/

If you have the cat in the manifold you can fit an aftermarket 4-2-1 and use an underflood cat for MOT time. You would need a catback exhaust with a decat pipe though.
