hi all, had a dyno run today and my saxo put out 137bhp and 110 at eh wheels , its got a full strait through piper exhaust with the de-cat, 4-2-1 stianless manifold, Pipercross Viper induction kit , i was told it had been cammed but apparently not, but i dont want to spend £300 on cams to only see a 5-10 bhp difference ? whats the next best thing to get as much as possible without turboing it, cheers:A:

Invest on other mods ( I am assuming you have just worked on engine mods ) such as suspension, brakes. Depends what route you want to go, you could strip it out and put polycarb windows in. Just depends on your pocket. 137bhp is good for a VTS with that spec.

Cams is the next (cheapest) thing if you want extra power.
As said above though, invest your money in the handling and brakes.

You could try better inlet but it all depends on how much dough you wanna spend

its already on fully adjustable suspension and an uprated gearbox with fantastic top end and i know that people say at 140 your speedo is miles out but my overall tyre hight is more then standard so the spedo is under reading atm lol, but i want 160+bhp and about 5-600 to play with so all sugestions welcolme :)

You could try bike carbs for better inlet, Gives you better mpg & bhp

well the next step is cams then surely?
no point doing inlets, boddies etc without cams?
and you couldn't turbo with only 600 notes.

Good luck getting 23bhp from £600. You need to go cams, ecu, remap and maybe throttle boddies to reach that mark.
I'd suggest spending the money on other parts of the car.

This you want 40bhp over standerd but are not willing to spend £300 on cams, you got a big shock coming your way in your seeking of power :homme:

Cams are your best option mate.

I really must do some runs on a rolling road that gives 20% losses... Would make my pub talk so much better. :(
Back on topic tho, to get the power you want you need to spend out. Other option is of course nitrous. That comes in under £600 and will give you your 40bhp.

out of curiousity ross
what are the losses on the dyno you run yours on? my current one is 13-15% irrc? id did work it out a while back but it escapes me haha
but after talking to a few ppl who are quite highly respected..no one can give any clear indiction to as what the approx true losses are on even a basic/average set up
obviously it depends on a million diff things and every set up could yield slightly diff results from even tyres alone
but its all curious stuff lol, obviously the only "true" way is to use engine dyno or go off wheel figures,
from what ive seen most tend to go off 20% these days, with few going off 10-15%
