Throttle bodies have injectors and run fully from the ecu
Carbs have jets and self meter the fuel
Throttle bodies defo better... Carbs are a backwards step on a modern engine

Its a mith you have to run an ecu with carbs!
The gti ecu is more than capable of running ignition only ( just spark) when using carbs
Not ideal.. But neither are carbs on a 16v lump

Throttle Bodies will be better for reliability / performance etc...
R1 carbs will be a little big for your engine too.
Carbs would be the cheaper option if you know what you're doing, but i would stick with something a little smaller - maybe r6's?

Get GSXR 750 or 1000 K1-K3 bodies.

Bodies are better in everyway, except for making girls wet... Carbs have a better indiction noice IMO but arent as fuel efficient or as powerful... A favorite ecu is mega jolt for a dizzyless carb setup...
Depends how much you wanna spend and what you want your car for...

Quite a few people have tried this though every one I have seen to date did not work well unless they had the ECU mapped. Hence why most people just go stand alone managment as it makes it much simpler to change the map.

I think inductioin noise is much more crisp sounding with TB's.

Agree with the crispness but there is no mistaking a well set up carb noise.:y:

I think a set of 600's would be about right for a 1.6.
Dont go too big else you'll be opening yourself a nice can of worms :)

what does the cbr use? GSXR 750 or 1000 are ideal, same size, 42mm buttery, taper down from 48.

your right dave ---ross,s turbo would be a death wish --If I was younger then I would certainly show you how with a s/c boosted car--every bit as controllable as t/bodies just alot more of it over a wider rpm range

the main worry would be an MOT as you have no lambda control with carbs --no matter how small or big
Its just no the right way to go
only time i would use them would be a race series where you are only permitted to use carbs and not t/bodies
the fact that they would limit you to carbs is proof enough that t/bodies +full injection will always give a better perfoming car

cetainly is !!
same bhp made with an s/c will always be quicker when bends are involved as we don,t have to wait till car is in a straight line to start adding power worrying about it suddenly spooling up and we can steer the car on the throttle --which you can never do as well with a simple type turbo car
get your 4way acutator fitted + electronic traction /boost control and maybe you,ll be closer
rear wheel drive is alot easier as you can always go sideways as the boost comes on
