Are they all the same? I've noticed different part numbers and the fact some are blue and some are green. Its the gauge sender by the way

Oddly, I should know this but I'm hesitant. Got a feeling some are single wire, whilst others are two wire? Ie some use block to earth, others have +ve and -ve in the connector.

Im pretty sure the one on mine is two wire. Also the blue ones seem to have a thicker threaded part compared to the green ones. Just would like to cure why my gauge sits at 3/4 when warm instead of the usual 1/2. It doesn't over heat just sits higher up than some others I've seen
Also its got the cooler 82 degree stat in

ive had plenty diff 8v heads etc..and over the years they seem to have mixed them all up
but for the most part...the green one is for water temp i think...the blue one is the head temp one that sits into the casting...
but theres a few diff sensors..two diff shades of blue..and various mounting points lol

Thats the best pic I have at the moment. However the stat one looks like the its just faded and the head/nut is shallower (I remember as the other one I took out the other night has a deeper one)

Also the other (the one further right in the pic) I took out looks like this:

ill have a look see in the morn...90% i should have one kicking about..i always keep sensors..
just where i put them that escapes me :p

Im gonna have a look tonight at this but I do know that the blue plugged one (in the picture of my engine bay) does the gauge and its definitely the larger kind. Id have thought that the green one is the CTS due to being in contact with coolant physically?
Has anyone else got a photo of which way round their plugs are? I'm kind of thinking I might have them the wrong way round here

Any saxo iv worked on has always had a green coolant temp sensor

Just had a look at this and the end of the coolant temperature sensor is definitely light blue, the other sensor that goes into the head - not the stat housing is light blue also but a slightly different shape. Basically like those pictures I posted above. Swapping the plugs round sends the ICV crazy and the gauge doesnt work so obviously they were in the right places to begin with. Cant really work this one out, only thing I can think of is its an S2 rallye tu5j2 engine but running single plug silver top VTR sensors and ecu? I swapped the gauge sender for a known good one I bought some time ago and it still does the same thing. Really stumped to be honest as it doesnt overheat, the stat opens all as it should - its an annoying niggle more than anything as it doesnt affect the car but I'd like it to sit at half! One thing I will say though is the car gets to half way up the gauge very quickly as almost as if it thinks that part of the gauge is the lower quarter?
If any one can offer any info or tell or similar happenings i'd be grateful, or knows the resistance the sender should be kicking out when hot and when cold

Single plug ecu..
Green one in the stat housing is for the ecu. The blue one in the head s for the dash.
Models with no temp guage has a single pin blue sensor.. Models with a guage have a two pin blue sensor
Believe 3plug ecu to use different sensors

Still sits at 3/4 this, but it does cool off with the fan and drop to about 5/8s or so. However I have noticed if you turn the car off when its at 3/4, and back on more or less right away the temperature will drop a tad then gradually go back up.

Try a diff set of clocks
Resistance in the gauge may be off a tad

Hmm it seemed OK when I drove it back with the original engine? Dont wanna get new clocks if theres no change as i've done an LED conversion in this one . any way of checking the gauge without taking the dash pod out?

I meant just borrow someone's to test, if they're fucked toul see the diff
In which case you can either get a new set with led fitted and mileage corrected etc. or you can de solder the temp gauge and solder it j to your old clicks
