Hi, looking for a clear answer to this.
I am building up a vts engine at the moment and am soon to buy electrics for it. What i am not sure of is whether the sensor layouts etc are different between the two ECU generations?
Can i use the same engine with either loom or does the engine itself vary between the two?

You can use either engine with either loom. its Some of the sensors that are different on the single plug to the 3plug looms.

As said it doesnt matter which loom you use especially. Just make sure you use the sensors which go with that loom as the majority of them are different between single plug/3 plug

Easiest way is get the loom which will match the car you are putting it in and then get the sensors. As trying to connect a 3 plug engine loom to a single plug interior loom is a bit of a headache.

With the the value of vts's at the lower end of the scale i'd be tempted to buy one thats a similar age to the car you are fitting it into (single plug/3 plug). A rusty one or something. Use the loom/sensors and sell the rest of it for parts. You'd make money on it and have all the parts you'd need.

Thanks guys. Its going into a crossover 2000 furio chassis which complicates things. Although if i use a pin out diagram i'm sure i should be fine as long as i can match the plug on the interior loom. That or getting a matching single plug interior loom

Iirc if it's crossover that's the bigger loom plug? So u can just get away with changing it to 3plug

The problem is that with crossovers they don't all have crossover looms, some do, some don't, some have new engines, some have old. The mash up of parts goes on and on.

What plug is your interior loom? If its the small plug then use a single plug loom with the sensors that match if not then use the 3plug loom.
