Right guys I might of answered my own question here lol, under hard acceleration my car doesn't smoke too much at all, but when I let off the throttle or change gear, it lets out a huge puff of white smoke that hangs about on the air.... am I right I'm thinking that my turbo seals are also on the way out, or is this just another sign of fucked rings?
Cheers in advance :)

When turbo seals go they tend to blow smoke under boost and that will be blue smoke not white, same for the rings will be blue smoke.

yeah oil does blow blue smoke mate, but im not losing any water though, and rings and stem seals blow under load, which makes me think its turbo seals

its shit isnt it mate, i know the bottom ends fucked because of compression and i filled a 1ltr catch tank in 8 miles the other night lol, but the way it smokes i think my turbo's going too :n:
and id put money on yours being a stem seal tbh with the way you said it smoked the other week

if i leave it to clear on idle or rev it..it clears up..im stumped atm
im still of the opinion its stems..but we'll see

defo sounds like a stem seal if it clears up after a bit.... but let us know the verdict when you have a look at it again :y:

Just want to update this thread with an accurate - ish answer..... I'm pretty sure this is the turbo seals now, I pulled up after a few minutes of enthusiastic driving last night, with the exhaust and engine (from the turbo area) pluming with white/blueish coloured smoke
I initially thought that the piston rings had finally given way, as the smoke was that bad that I could barely see around me, but I let the car sit for 10 mins to cool down and then turned it back on, it didn't smoke at all then and was still on all four cylinders, and drove back home off boost with no issues so I'm pretty sure that eliminated the rings
Shortly after I took the boost pipe off the turbo, and there was a fair bit of oil running down the boost pipe so I'm fairly sure that it's now the turbo seals.....

On the other hand I think it's new turbo time though....
Edit: Btw was yours blowing smoke on gear changes or acceleration?

Lmao how did you manage that mate? and ill text you now :)
And mine was blowing a bit on idle and on acceleration it would calm but as soon as i let off the throttle it would fill up so i guess the heat would burn off then when i let off it would let all the smoke out :/

If its coming from the turbo then you will hve oil in the boost pipes and intercooler ,presuming you do not havethe breather pipe from engine connected to the intake side of the turbo .
there is no other reason for oil to be in the boost pipes if no engine breathers are connected to the induction system in anyway, other than its coming from the turbo.
If no oil in turbo pipes then its an internal engine problem ,assuming of course that you do have some sort of crankcase breathing pipe to the atmosphere so it cannot build up internal pressure in engine and force oil past the rings /valve stem seals

Yeah I'm pretty sure it is the turbo seals, it smokes on idle and smokes when I change gear or let off the throttle on boost, and gets worse throughout a journey.... and just to clarify that I took the boost pipe coming off the turbo last night, ran my finger round the inside of the pipe and my finger was covered in oil, it can sometimes even smoke from the turbo from under the bonnet, so I might of even cooked or overheated it.... the bottom end is fucked too but I already knew about that, but this smokes in a completely different way than the symptoms of piston ring failure
