Basically I've got a set of R1 carbs spare from my race bike and wondered what would be involved in fitting them to my vtr, and what other things I would need? I was thinking of camming it at the same time, just wondered what's involved and if anyone could shed me some light, cheers scott

What sort of prices are we looking at for these? And what would be the best cams to use?

Thanks Matt! Appreciate that! How much did it set you back? Is it recommended to do the head at the same time?

Hello again mate I got it for £100, got it fitted today, made a bit of different with breathing mods i.e 4-2-1 manifold straight thru exhaust, K&N induction kit with cold air feed, made it noticeable ide put the cam in made it abit more responsive, made it abit quicker, I fitted it in a gas flowed head which helped, I would advise to take the head of and do it, less hassel then if you take head off you can clean piston tops up, relap valves and replace valve stem seals, it's all done then you know you have a good engine with new gaskets and cleaning valves and piston tops will make a slight difference as I did all this on mine :)
Hope this helps dude

that whole comment is pretty much total bollocks you will allways 100 percent need to take your head off to get it gas flowed and cleaning piston tops will make no noticible differance atal get a 16v engine it the cheapest way to go faster is it really worth spending all that money on bodies to get smoked by a standard vts ??

The carbs are free and I have the 8v engine sitting in my car so rather than do an engine swap I just wondered what would be involved to do this to my engine, if it was low enough budget I would consider it, but if it cost a fair bit there would be no point and I would leave it standard apart from breathing mods
