why are you using the 3 plug loom if its not in the original car?

Ax_beefy
15th August 2006, 22:46
because he's got to cut rewire the loom anyway as its for an AX so he might aswell use any old one lol... its not much fun to do

dont the haynes manual have an ecu pin put in it? i thought even though the haynes shows a single plugger, the wire numbers and pin numbers are still the same in the 3 plug aint they? or am i really wrong?

Ax_beefy

wire numbers are the same, but there are extras

l1ukeRS
16th August 2006, 23:14
what extras are there on the mk2 that aint on the mk1 loom? digital feeds to the clock or summat?

Ax_beefy

All the clock business is the same... the fuse box is wired differently.. F9 circuit is slighlty different and there is a 30 amp fuse in the top left that is seprate from the box itself. The extra wires are for things such as ABS sensors other dial guages that some models don't have, i.e. some don't have a low coolant sensor or low oil sensor when wiring the looms wire to the car loom not the other way round as its easier to find what you need rather than where it goes

Hi,
I have a Saxo VTR 2002 ECU.
It is the 3 pin sort.

With the bosch labe underneath the pins are marked as
Block 1
HGFEDCBA
4 -- no pins
3 --8 pins
2 --8 pins
1 --8 pins

Block 2
ABCDEFGHIJKLM
1 -- no pins
2 --12 pins
3 --12 pins
4 --12 pins

Block 3
ABCDEFGH
4 -- no pins
3 --8 pins
2 --8 pins
1 --8 pins

Does anyone know where I may find a pin out for this please?
thanks.

You won't find it. You'll have to break out the multi-meter

Hi Andy
thanks for the quick reply.
The thing is my ecu isn't attached to a vehicle ;)
I want to power it up on the bench and work on k-line (diagnostic) communcations with it. Usually the ignition, power and ground (s) are required plus the K / L lines.
Usually these ECU pinouts are printed in the Car Mechanics magazines...
Mine is labelled BOSCH 0 261 206 860. Would this be a Motronic xxx unit?
Thanks.

Mine does say "M7.4.4". Would this be Motronic 7.4.4? If so is this the same Motronic 7.4.4 as used in the Xsara Picasso?

OK, so i got nowhere with the Motronic 7.4.4.

So I got a MA3.1 Citroen Saxo ECU Bosch 0261203736. I t has two rows of pins - 37 pins in all. Any ideas?

How different ECU's went on the Saxo??!!!

Well, each Saxo model had its own ECU?

The VTR 1 plug is different from the VTS 1 plug which is different from the VTS 3 plug which is different from the VTR 3-plug?

Not really sure what you're after mate that's not covered by the above...?

Hi Andy
I now have the VTR 1 plug. This is a 37 pin ECU. I need to wire up the +12V, Grounds and diagnostics line to test out some software to access the ECU information.
So far I have connected pins 18 and 38 to +12V, pins 2,14 and 19 to ground, and pin 16 to the KLine (OBD-II pin 7). There is power on the ECU board, and 5volts runs around but the diagnostics do not respond to a 5 baud or Kwp2000 fast initialisation. So I think I have got the pin outs wrong?

Hmm, if you're using the VTR-1plug, then Autodata has the correct pin-outs, I know the 3-plug information is not available anywhere

Is it worth asking anyone if they will loan you their working car to test? That way you'll know it's all wired correctly

this is probs due to the 1 plug ecu not being obd2 compatible

Nice!
I figured out the pins in the end then found it works with EOBD commands, not standard OBD2/OBDII commands.

I have a Peugeot 106XN (97) with the same Bosch MA3.1 0261203736 ECU with the single 37 pin connector: three questions:

1) Am I right in thinking that there is no OBD connector?
2) If there is no OBD connector I absolutely can't talk to the ECU?
3) Does anyone have a pin out for the 37 pin connector?

welshpug

1 no there is one, stnadard 2 pin iirc, not the DL16.
2 see above
3 yeah autodata has it, as does haynes manual.

I think I've found it:

http://www.monteviste.co.uk/images/obdsocket.jpg

Reading up it seems to be the 30 pin Peugeot type.

So this will be OBDII?
