Right goes like this.

Had a 1.1 Single Point Injection engine which i took out.
Brought a 1.4 Multi Point injection now ready to go.
I have a VTR loom which i was told would work with my original spi ecu aslong as i got the unlocked.

That was then. This is now!

Basicly i've been told two different things, when i first started people said i could get my original ECU unlocked but now people are saying it won't work because it was running spi and can't run a mpi engine?

If that is the case can i just get a 1.4 ecu that's been unlocked and it work? would i need the ignition key or anything like that?

I have no alarm or immobliser to worry about either.

I've really become completely tired of this now, and really really really want to get it in and sorted. At wits end with it! If i knew it was going to be this much bother i wouldn't of bothered, but whats done is done now.

Please help :( lol

You need the correct ECU for the engine.

If it's unlocked, and you've unplugged the immobiliser, then you've got no worries.

As above. For the best out of an engine run the correct ecu.

Right well there's a 1.4 ecu on ebay single plug which is advertised as its been unlocked from the ECU. Is that all i need? Just the ECU, I don't need to original key for ecu or nothing? Still struggling to get my head round how this all works tbh :/

As long as its unlocked, it should be fine.

The guy said when he says unlocked, the black immobliser was taken out whilst the car was running.

"by "unlocked" I mean the black box immobliser unit was removed from the car whilst the engine was running"

Exactly what he said, does that sound about right?

Yes...

Right so i can buy this, and plug it straight into my car using the vt loom and it should work fine yes? Sorry for all the question, but really want to get this sorted and done right you know.

But thanks for your help as far btw :y:

As long as the plugs match, the loom has all the same sensors etc, and the ECU is unlocked, then yes it should work fine.

1.4 single plug is the same as the VTS single plug, my Predator ECU runs the 1.4

Is it the 3-plug or single plug 1.4 you have?

EDIT: The VTR single plug loom is different from the 1.4 and VTS looms so be careful!

Well i haven't got a 1.4 loom to compare but i was told it was the same/would work. Should of really double checked tbh :n:

As Luthor said christoph check up on the loom as he is right in saying they are different.

1.4 single plug loom should be fairly easy to find?!

Got a guy on here who thinks he has one, whats the key difference between a 1.4 and vtr loom. What sensor plugs are different etc etc? Cheers

Right yet another question. Are the looms the same for a 1.4 that has the coil pack on the side of the head and the one where it's like along the head, where the plugs and injectors are!?
