I have a Y reg MK2 VTR and I have been told the Cat is in the manifold there for I am able to have a de cat centre pipe and pass its MOT?
Could anyone advise me if this is correct or incorrect ?

Hi there,
Yea as far as i know the mk2s have the cats in the mani and the earlier cars have it in the centre section. This being the case theres no such thing as a decat centre section for your car, are you getting confused with a straight through centre section ie. no silencer?
As long as your cat is in place you should be fine from an MOT perspective regardless of the exhaust spec

Yes you need the. "Decat" version with the two silencers, obviously as your cat remains in the downpipe it wone be "decatted". Which will make mot time easy, and save you having to buy the more expensive cat centre section.

correct.
the cat on a phase 1 is under the car, on a phase 2 its in the manifold.
as you are keeping the car, the car wont be very loud though.

it depends if your cat is though
Y reg is change over and some mark 2s from then are under car cat
have a look at your manifold if it is but if the cats there then yes the above is correct if its not and is under the car youll need a cat back system if you want to keep it
