Your Y reg will have a crossover loom on it, is it single or three plug ECU? Theres two types of crossover looms.
You can either get the loom spliced or use a vts loom/ECU from the same age as yours and possibly swap a few sensors round.

If yours in a Y reg three plug then there is a chance that will fit however not 100%. Can you take a photo of yours? Thats a single plug VTS loom by the look of it, some of the crossover looms have that connection on and some have a varient of the 3 plug one (its not the same as the later 3-plug models though so it wouldn't work)
Only way to tell is to grab a photo of the one thats on your car.

Yea that wont fit you will need a loom of the exact same year or a splice. The plug you have there is a generic 3-plug chassis plug, however there is two types, yours is the annoying one with the 3 rows of pins. A 3-plug VTS loom would plug into it and technically fit but it wouldn't work as the pins are in the wrong places.

They tend to be the hardest ones to find tbh matey, id save time and get it spliced.

Why not just get a 3 plug vts loom as that's a straight fit. The 2001 was never a cross over

Their not that easy to get hold of, needs to be 2001 onwards, if your using the pre 2001 engine the you need to get 3plug sensors, not all of them as some are the same

Anything with the newer plug than his wont fit, it screws in but the pins are different. it will have to be a 2001 vts loom or a splice.

splicing = have a look on yell.com or yellow pages for 'auto electricians' in your local area. They'll probably quote an hourly rate and estimate how many hours they reckon it'll take them. Not an insane job but if you know what you're doing and have a diagram it'll probably be a lot easier = plus if it fecks up then it's on them to sort it.

There is nothing with a newer plug than his, he has the big multiplug and 3 plug ecu. Don't u mean anything older.
Iirc the change over year loom has a big multiplug but single ecu - this will still fit

No, there are 2 varients of the newer plug, he has the older one. They all 'fit' but the pins dont line up, therefore dont work.
