mine's a vtr with vts conversion so no oil temp gauge, only oil pressure light. I want to fit an oil temp gauge so is this where I'd plug into?

If im right, that is oil level sensor.
Is the engine from a 106 GTI?
Oil temp and oil press is on the block if im right.

Yup think its oil level, and i think the temp sensor is on block behind manifold.

On my s2 rallye engine thats the temperature sensor, not level

thats the oil temp on the back of the sump, the oil level is the one on the front just near the oil filter, had to buy the oil level one not long ago as was leaking!

Correct...
Temp on sump.. Level near oil filter... Pressure half way up front of block
Late engines (poss 3plug) with digi dash use combined temp/level sensor

I'm looking to put a mechanical race trek gauge on my dash display does anyone know the thread size for the attachment behind the manifold where it goes. Really don't want to take manifold of to get to it
Cheers

Go electrical instead and use the Allen head screw port side of head on the cam galley
Fitting is a 10x1 get an adapter 10x1 male to 1/8 npt then use electrical pressure sensor and gauge.
