Gt - carb
R - injection

All depends on your defination of better, the R is a more modern engine (in its later form), giving better mpg. GT gives more power per cc.

Ax gt is a very old 1.4. I would not bother putting one in a saxo. Vtr is much newer fuel injected 1.6.

Vtr engines are a dime a dozen but are even starting become less commonly available now

I'd hate to have to sour e parts for an ax gt lump

i put a 1.4gt lump in my old 1.0 ax, was very nippy! prefered it to my vtr saxo owned. Felt faster, ax is a lighter car though.

My axgt was awesome :D

I traded it in for a brand new standard vtr

Vtr felt so flat..

Anyway.. As above... 1.6 xsi/s2 rallye lump is the ultimate really. Unless you want to go s1 1.3 rallye lump

yeah vtr is very flat, prety boring to drive. The axgt was awesome! sounded mint with a 4-2-1, straight through pipe and scorpion backbox.

Mine had headwork, matched and ported inlet, flowed and rejetted carb, k+n filter, 421 manifold, scorpion system, spax adjustables, omp drilled and grooved discs, m1144 pads, braided hoses

Was like a gokart :p

Did you not mean the AX GTi lump which was 100bhp, multipoint injection.

Saying that, the AX GT carb engine made for a slightly quicker AX.

I'd say the AX Sport 1.3 twin carb engine trumps the lot but ultra rare.
