Hi, I drove my friends cammed vts today and holy shit I want one! Unfortunately there's no way I can insure one, so I gotta stick to my 1.1. Wanna know if its worth getting an uprated cam for mine, is it going to much much difference for the price it would cost? Thanks!

Why no be interesting to see a screamer of a 1.1 that'd see off VTRs :p with correct mods.

because you can buy and install a vtr engine for less than it would cost for those select mods.
and it would still look like a 1.1..

whats wrong with the look of a flat arch?
imo, bar a very few, most of the best looking 106's and saxo's are flat arch's

because you'll spend (say) £1000 (or whatever your budget is) and be really happy. Until a week later when a bog standard vts comes past you like you accidentally selected reverse.

sorry it would be very wrong to suggest you tune your 1.1 ,you will be dissappointed with results for money spent .
if you cannot get insurabce for a vts ,then any engine change you make --which will be tyour next idea will invavlidate your insurance .
having said that ,then cheapest way to get closer to the vts is fit a 1.6 vtr lump

i never said anything was wrong with a flat arch look....
i said it will still be a 1.1 looking car with a 1.6 engine.

It would have to be a custom camshaft anyway as no company has wasted development on the 1.1

Get the 3-plug one, and turbo it. bar of boost will take you up to around 125-130bhp or so, and you'll still get nearly 60mpg on a cruise!
