there are a few diff 1.4's too

but going off the more modern stuff...

the 1.4's are an alloy block with wet liners...the 1.6 is a cast block...the 1.6 has bigger valves

the overall is pretty similar....ex and inlet manis are interchangeable if you get corresponding head designs

the cams can be swapped if as above

etc etc

basically as above..

you can fit the vtr engine onto the 1.4 loom and run it...you "could" even run it on the 1.4 ecu..but not advised..do see many do it (particular with quicksilver.)

if you post up why/what you need to know..it may help out more..

Well ive got a funny feeling my engine isnt going to last long as i found out yestarday there was no oil or water in my engine :( and ive done 1,000 miles in it and i dont know how many more was done so it mite be on the way out lol, So what i was going to do was run this engine into the ground and buy and rebuild a 1.6 bottom end and when the engine does go i could just swap the botton ends over and get some head work done at the same time but now im just going to buy the whole engine and rebuild it all :) just hope it doesnt end up like my other engine i have which i full rebuilt with headwork and cams then i sold the car and ive still got the engine lol....

Is there any diffrence between the 1.4 airbox and the 1.6 vtr airbox? as my air filter is well over due for a change by the look of it (its fuked lol) so ive going to fit a piper pannel filter and a cold air feed but dont know if the 1.6 box is bigger and if it is ill replace the airbox to...

What makes you think its on its way out? service it fully and you might be alright unless its knocking badly, or using fluids.
Start with a good base 8v if you want to rebuild it, one of the more fruity ones if you want some power

well my gauges all locked up to start but i fixed that a few days ago then i noticed the temp gauge wouldnt do anything for miles then it shot up past half way but in this weather i have the heaters on and that drops the temp gauge back to 0 lol...

shes not knocking yet but over the past week it has started to make a strange noise and shes getting more and more a pain to start, so i think ive cooked something, thats why i was asking about the diffrent between the 1.4 and 1.6 to see weather or not id just swap the bottom end over or the whole engine :) but i will replace every part i can (seals bearings rings ect) for the bottom end using stock parts and the head and cams will gets some aftermarket work done :)

thats funny since everyone AT ford say the pug engine that replaced the endura-d engine is aload of shit and if it wasnt for the eu regs thay still would have used it!

also lets see the LAST ford engine that ford used was the what Zetec-R engine which was last fitted into the ford focus, all other engines are pug and mazda engines so you cant know much then....

The endura e is bombproof!

Gave mine hell from cold every day, ran it with little to no oil!
Tappets are overly noisy on them, moreso with barely any oil

Know a few boys on UKFN who also deliberately gave there's hell 24-7 to prove a point!

says the guy who doesn't know what important role oil and water play in an engine.
