as long as the piece of string im currently holding.
Depending on the cams about 100-110.

mlawlan69

That all depends on his rev limit

well realistically, the filter and exhaust system probably give you back the ponies youve lost over the years, if not, give or take 1 or 2 bhp
and it depends on what cam you used. Im guessing you mean catcam 708's? have you had it remapped? if not then it would probably be at about 100-110

Haha did you have the 98 bhp engine mine is 90 so gained 20 bhp

7th December 2012, 20:18
most ph2 VTRs will make 110ish with a 4/2/1.
the powerflow wont be the best flowing i would imagine.
but regardless, it will be around 100.

if you dont mind me asking how much did the cam/head recon, manifold, exhaust and filter set you back?

Ok, quite a lot 60 for induction 80 for manifold power flow cat back seconded hand 80 but the cam cost 260 and fitted 260 by pug1off and they supplied me the engine and for some reason when they put the new cam on said they had proplems so the re built the head for free which was good so about 800ish

True, but your never going to get money back on mods, in not bothered about loosing the money I enjoy doing it, so it's alright

£800 on engine performance mods to make 110bhp? Jesus.

Yeh 800 on a car ill be keeping for ages 20 bhp is quite good for that I think

If i told you a vts engine would have been half the price and given 120 bhp standard, would you be annoyed?

I'm not stupid mate lol I know what a vts standard is I can't get insured on a vts/Gti I've put a the vtr engine in my 106 quicksilver as I blew up my old engine and I put the vtr in because its identical to the 1.4 engine, so considering it supposed to be 75 bhp I'm happy with it so my answer to that is no
harry289
7th December 2012, 21:34
They are similar. Not identical. How much more was it to insure the 106 quicksilver with a cammed 1.6 8v engine with modified exhaust and air intake?

except for the fact it's totally different, and 200cc more you mean?
I hope you've declared the swap to your insurance company?
joshmega

Pretty much the same hardly noticable

are you actually serious?
You're uninsured if you've not declared that change.

Although he has clearly not declared the engine change, an insurance company probably wouldn't check that anyway in an accident. Also i bet most people on this site haven't declared all their modifications such as alloys, ICE, lowering springs, exhausts etc etc..He will have problems when MOT time comes and the engine number is wrong for the car, HA!
I dont condone what he is doing btw, but he isn't the only one..

You have to declare any engine change on your log book which changes your tax charges & your insurance group...
Otherwise you might as well not bother with insurance at all tbh

if its a 16v like for like just change the cam belt covers when there both out :homme:
*i do not condone doing this to hide the fact a car has had and engine change!!*

alex - he's saying he's putting a vtr engine in to replace the furio engine as "it's almost identical". I presume he means visibly, as obviously there are some fundamental differences internally.
What you're doing is insurance fraud.

i know i was just trolling about how stupid the french are putting the number on a removeable part of 16vs
(im aware theres one by crank sensor on the block too but 90% of the time its to corroded to read)
