I changed my cambelt on my vtr about 5 years ago at 60k miles. Its now at about 110k miles. When should i think about changing my cambelt for a 2nd time?
or is it a different time interval the 2nd time round? because no one ever seems to mention a 2nd belt change with high mileage cars :S

thanks

Every 60k mate. Same as before. Just buy another quality kit and you will get the same again hopefully

Always the same, 60k or 5 years. the belt perishes with age as well as wears with mileage, for the price and ease of doing it on vtr's I'd probably do it sooner rather than later.

Its dead easy on an 8v, budget 45 minutes to an hours work if you havent done one before. Tensioner bolt is tightened to 23nm iirc

+1 to this if you cant do the timing belt on a 8v there is something wrong with your mind.

If the water pumps never been done, Id change it. Ive seen a 70k water pump look seriously past it. I didnt use a torque wrench for the water pump or tensioner bolt as I was caught without. As far as Im concerned though, tight is tight, stripped is fucked.

Ha ha as said if the belt is off change the water pump. Go for a good make not a cheap one. But I would use a torque wrench.

Could use the red face tight or the fuck me that's tight but I prefer to use the wrench because mine vibrates lol.

Budget more time to get the water pump out, it can be bastard. I was there 2 hours hammering mine to pieces
