Supersprint claim 7hp iirc from a full system on a 16v

Is it noticeable?
Not in my experience and any gains you notice will likely be placebo.
On the rolling road you may get hp gains though.

The Hoffmans are cheap shitty exhausts - I fell for it once cause it was cheap and I was desperate. Lasted almost a couple of weeks till it blew a hole, the bends are also some of the worst I've ever seen lol.
Go for something with a bit more quality and you might notice a very, very slight gain.

If you bought a NEW Citroen cat, centre pipe and backbox, I mean GENUINE Citroen, as a basis, then you will feel very little from an aftermarket decat/full exhaust only, but most of you/us will be looking at shitty German and Swedish backboxes, crappy unbranded mid-pipes and grotty old cats.
you'll see a HUGE improvement from this, but not over shiny new standard on its own

de-cat is mainly better for sound, but saying that it might a add a little bhp

on a vtr, going from the cat manifold to a decat tubular sees a big differance in power delivery and noise.
recently i went from a:
- 4/2/1 raceland manifold with a supersprint mid pipe and back box
to a
- 4/1 raceland manifold with a bodge up midpipe with a sports cat and a supersprint back box.
eg, installed a cat.
Performance isn't noticeably different. Its a little more punchy low down, little less punchy past 5,000rpm. Could well be the manifold difference.
most noticeably it's about 8db quieter (without measuring properly) with the sports cat in place.

If the cat is used for long time for sure the de-cat pipe will provide a better response, if its new there wont have a big difference but still will be better. The best will be to change the cat with resonator designed for your car. Cheers!

why is it we think an older cat will restrict more than a new cat?
not a challenge, i would just be interested to know.

dont all decat pipes do the same thing? why would that hoffman decat be any worse than another one?
removing the cat was one of the best mods ive done to the saxo, mainly due to the sound though

^^
The only reason why one decat would be more restrictive than the other would be from the diameter of the piping, e.g I think Hoffman exhausts and decats are about 43mm diameter, where as some other brands like supersprint and kam racing are about 50mm, allowing more air to flow through it

also the sharpness of the bends influences the flow of gasses and slows them down which you don't want if looking for performance

what would a cat get clogged up with? saxos hardly coke up they run so lean!
