Fitted newman ph3's in my vts but car keeps cutting out on tick over. Timing is fine worked out if I pull the throttle cable and move the metal clip that adjusts it so its got more revs it ticks over fine? Does that mean I just need to adjust the throttle body some how? Hope that makes sence

Not really it needs mapping to suit the cams & other mods really. Some people have issues with idle, some don't.

When i was running 708's in my vts it only cut out once or twice in 6 months, obviously a very similar profile and people have the same issues with these.

I might be completely barking up the wrong tree here but everyone i know who's had a later car ( 3 plug ) seems to have idle issues with 708's or ph3's. I only know two people with them in earlier cars, not including mine (single plug) and they don't seem to have idle problems, definitely a lumpy idle, but at least it idles lol.

Not sure whether thats a coincidence or not to be honest!

Most cams tend to make the car cut out without a map. Adjusting the throttle so its permantley open isn't a great idea.

Piss through fuel...

Get it mapped!

As said, it needs mapping.

Your air/fuel ratio etc will be all over the place without a remap.
You'll probably do more damage than good if you keep driving it over a long term period like that, bite the bullet and get it remapped, you'll also get better power gains when it's mapped properly to the mods you've got.

Think yous are right lads, looking in to geting it mapped now.

If you retard the exhaust cam a little you can cure the cutting out but you'll be down on power. Might make it liveable until you get it mapped tho. :)

for goodness-sake DONT use the throttle cable clip to open up the throttle plate.

The throttle plate is adjusted by a screw.

The ECU reads the throttle voltage, and it MUST be under 0.7volts at rest otherwise the stock ECU won't go into idle.

The ECU will target 14.7:1 AFR using the narrowband sensor at idle which the PH3 cams may struggle to do.

Hope some of that helps!

Car is off the road at the min anyway so doesn't really matter. When I get it mapped will I need adjustable pullys? Or does the timing stay as normal?

I know that is not a fix was just to get the car to tick over as It would not even start propaly
The car is off the road atm so just want it sorted befor I get it back out

Thanks

Keep it the same to start. Who timed them up when they were fitted? What were they done at?

the car has adjustable cam pulleys as standard so you *already* have those :)

Wasn't sure if there were up to the job thanks :)

yeah they are really good in my opinion, because you have the standard marks you can set them to so you're always starting from bog standard
