ZZR600 Bike Carbs

Has anyone had experience using ZZR600 carbs on the 8v VTR? Looking at a set I speak but wanted advice first.

ideally you want bodies not carbs

but if you must have carbs..there are better our there then zzr carbs

My budget doesnt stretch to TBS. The company is only offering ZZR600. What is recommended

what company?

and what vtr..are you planning to convert it to dizzy?

what is your budget...can pic bodies up cheap tbf..make and inlet which should cost the same no matter bodies or carbs

then just need to sort the management out

I set a budget of £1000 inc ecu ie omex 200. The company is off ebay. I am running a black top vtr engine from a 1998 model.

Im more than happy to buy a used set but cant find any

The inlet manifold with the bike carbs is £320 so that with the omex 200 would come to £750 so would leave me money left for the fast road cam

That'll be tough at that budget, but think jeff picked his bodies for around that. Might get lucky keep searching. Infact he's selling up isnt he?

get an inlet made for about £200 or less

get a westy loom and second hand pred for under £500...then get a cam..then mapping

and save yourself alot of hassle

Who makes the inlets? Tried searching for the preds but appears quite hard to get. Pm me if you have details.

Mate in all honesty unless you can weld up your own manifold there is very little chance you will do carb's for under 1k.

most fabricating companies will make one..just need to find a local fabricator

and in all honesty

speaking form experience..budget builds always go over budget..so you nee a bigger one really, youve set a DIY budget

and by that i mean, do everything yourself or through mates

He's set a diy budget that even I couldn't keep to fabricating everything myself and doing all the work. In the long run carb's cost just as much as bike boddies after setting the carb's up and re jetting them to suit.

I have a mechanic doing all the work. The build is over 6k as this engine is going in a classic car. I think that 1k for what is only half the performance parts is suitable as im not bothered with TBS. The cam and manifold will come in my later budget. If i can get used then awesome.

i know mate, im not advising him go carbs, i posted up about bodies, but hes gonna need to stretch the budget a bit

then spend your grand wisely

source a vts conversion, 300 easy

get some cams and a mani..easy done for £300 or less, decent air filter, 80

save the rest and go faster then your vtr ever would with the same budget

I can sell you a downdraft carb manifold for that engine £150
find some idf carbs from and old alfa flat four engine ,but as already said t/bodies +ecu are the way if you must tune the 8v

Duno if mentioned above... But you can use the standard ecu to run carbs. Its quite happy supplying ignition only. Not ideal for the best performance.. But then neither are carbs lol

My mate ran zzr600 bodies on a homemade manifold on his 8v s2 rallye using the standard ecu as ignition only. It didnt even put the eml light on.

Secret with carbs is balancing them properly and getting the jetting right.

Mate brought a balancing kit of ebay for 20 quid, and ended up through trial and error with the jets drilled out to 1.6mm. Worked well for a diy conversion

Spoke to Bogg Brothers and they recommended their inlet with a set of CBR600 carbs so thats what im going for. Also will run a megajolt system but now cant decide on a cam. Newman fast road or Catcam fast road cam decisions decisions
