Hey guys. Does it worth to change my current cam covers with J4 one? And if yes, why does it? As I know some of the reasons are that with J4 there is no oil leaking and there is more clearence for a sports cams. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Thanks in advance!

The jp4 covers are generally better covers entirely. Keep them unless you need to swap to the older j4 covers.

Ohh, my mistake. My idea is to swap the

Sorry once again. So why the JP4 covers are the better choice and does it worth to change m8ne with them.

Thanks!

The jp4 covers don't leak anywhere near as much, are easier to seal, allow the engine to breath better, ad some argue the look nicer (certainly make the engine look more modern). :)

Thanks guys! I have one more question , the JP4 timing belt covers fit straight to tje J4 engine right, seems like there ia a plenty room for them (because they seems to be bigger at the top end)?

There are early and late JP4 covers, changed about 2004 I think. Early ones have a rubber seal that's removable but not available from Peugeot/Citroen, later ones have a seal plate, that's removable and can be bought. Early covers when refitted can be troublesome and in both cases, use the correct genuine bolts, they have the right shoulder to clamp the covers properly, cap heads (hex head bolts) don't clamp it very well.

Also another point to think about, depending which strut brace you have (if you have one) they could come into contact with the back of the cover. So you would need to space the brace up with some plate or get rid of it. I cant remember which one i had. Was e-tec or m-tec or something like. Someone will know

As i Know E-TECH Strut braces and the OMP are coming into contact with the JP4 covers, I think that if I decide to fit a strut brace it will be sparco. Thank you so much guys for the help. :y:

Can the bolts off the j4 covers be used on the jp4 covers?

Most will work but the coil pack cover ones are different

pretty sure i used the j4 bolts on the jp4. Jp4 covers are so much better imo though, you can buy gaskets for them which you can't for the j4's.

The correct bolts are 025074, you need 16 and they are 13p each, don't mess about, just use the right bolts!

:O 13p each!!! I'll be using some spare J4 ones then....

overtightened or seal broke?

I took it off. Cleaned it up. Nothing seemed split but I am going to try new gaskets. Little rubber green ones. Not got round to finding them yet. Sandy? ;)

I'll phone Shitroen tomorrow see how I get on

Early seal only type is 0249A9, I didn't think they're available, but they are. Later plate type 0249C6.

Thanks Sandy :)
They want £6 for early ones, £12 for later ones. Just my luck to have later ones. Lol
