I've used the bluetooth one.
it will only work on 3 plug ECU's (not the 1.5D though)

2001 onwards 1.5D has a 3 plug ECU to comply with EU regulations.
It doesn't even do anything apart from sense cold start and close EGR valve on WOT.

I am pretty sure that all the cheap readers will only work with newer saxos, the older one plug ecu engines is not supported by the readers.
The best way to go is to get the lexia china copy to aroung 80£
I have tried a cheap odb reader for my one plug saxo, didnt work. I then bought the lexia china copy, works like a charm on both engine, airbag and abs.

I got one of those cheap readers. Works well on a car with a good diagnostics package, my clio for instance. Other than reading fault codes and RPM, its useless on the VTR mk1

Used this on my Y Reg VTR, 03 Corsa C, 05 Vivaro and 08 Focus Titanium and 04 Audi A3 and worked on all of them and cleared fault codes on the A3 and Corsa displayed the code and said what the code ment good bit of kit for the money! :D

Ive used the one in that link that, the £9 wireless bluetooth jobby.
My car didnt bring up any codes, so I can only assume that there we'rent any codes to read, as it didnt report any problems with the connection etc.
Mines a cross over single plug silvertop (well the ecu side is anyway)

Bluetooth ones or any reader which is cheap from ebay is for OBDII compliant cars.
This means 3 plug ECU models only. :geek:

It won't work on your 97 mark 1 as this only has OBD diagnostics not OBD2 diagnostics which were introduced in 2001. Difference to tell is one plug OBD1 3 plug OBD2 (ecu).

That will only work on 1999> 106/saxo with 3 plug ECU.
We have EOBD.
OBD and OBDII is the American version. EOBDII wasn't mandatory until a much later date than 1996.
