I just had my insurance through on my 1.1 at 2k a year and cant afford the vtr so i was wondering would putting a vtr K&N air filter on my 1.1 have better throttle response or not?

i go to cruises quite alot around the milton keynes area with my mates who has saxo's and they are vtr's and vts's i already put a vt bodykit on and a universal air filter :p just want something to make is go abit faster :)

An air filter on a 1.1 is not going to give much (if any) extra power!

Only realistic way is to change the engine for a bigger one!

If you fit a cone filter you will reduced throttle response.

If you fit a K&N panel filter as designed for your standard air box, it will improve.

won't gain much power though. maybe 1-2HP at most.

Nothing except a turbo or NOS will make a 1,1 faster. :)

theres no getting away with it, with a larger undeclared engine you wont be insured and thusly you are putting other road users at risk. Dont be a dick cheese

aha i wont do that dont worry :') i cant even afford the engine and loom at the moment, only mods im doing tow is tint the back windows, 15" alloys, better soundsystem and vts interior and a cat back and i only have a rubbish back box :)

well air filter didnt add any and tints added 2 pounds a year :p

Lol, u only have to declare mods if they affect engine performance, otherwise u dont have to tell them about anything else, especially window tints lmao! Also dont do any mods to a 1.1 mate, its pointless and a waste of money, do subtle mods and keep it simple, then when ur insurance goes down and u can get a better car, mod that instead.

Tints change the look of the car - making it more appearing to a thief. Changing a car from OEM should be declared!

ALL modifications MUST be declared.

I had to declare my alloy wheels (Peugeot Ouragan) as they're not factory fitted. my Stainless "standard" exhaust also had to be declared.

Same with B8 suspension and lowering (not a power mod)
and my bigger brakes (insurance killer and also not a power mod)

Tints may make your car more appealing to thieves as they think you may have something to hide in there. also it potentially can reduce visibility in a collision.


However, I do agree with you not bothering to mod a 1.1 and getting a better car instead :P

You are sooooooo wrong

A modification In the eyes of an insurance company is something that is likely to make the car or its contents more attractive or add power to it.

So tints ,certain people in society will see that as saying I'm hiding something than can be sold for a few quid to exchange for a hit, so insurance goes up.

Alloy wheels, if it didn't roll out the factory with the its a mod, etc

Think a few people in this thread will learn the hard way about being legal when it comes to insurance

Just thought I'd add to this I had a BMW cost me a lot, so I scimpted on telling insurance my mods only tints and alloys, I had a bad crash, guess what, my insurance was invalid this we are talking was 7 or 8 years ago if ur gunna do it claim your mods ur only fuckin yourself over in long run dude

But modifications all must be declared.

tints on the rear can be as dark and mysterious as you like.
