HI, ive just put a 106gti engine into my mk1 saxo vtr, both single plug ecu but was a bigger ecu plug on the gti, there is also another couple of differences with the gti loom, one being there is no wires that connect to the bottom of the fuse box in the engine bay and the other difference is it has two plugs that go into the interior loom near the passenger light. i connected everything else up but it wouldnt even turn the starter over :/. So, i have put the loom from my old vtr engine onto it including the vtr ecu. It is now cranking over.. Has anyone else done this before and should it run with the vtr ecu?? Or any ideas what i should do?
Thanks.

No it wont run on the vtr ecu properlly and you will need to swap alot of sensors. The GTI loom is massivly different to the vtr loom you need it splicing to fit.

okay thanks, i have the vtr loom all plugged in atm, the only difference is theres no connecter for the oil pressure sensor and the connecter for the coilpack is different so i have my vtr coilpack on atm so next thing i think nill try is changing that so i can have the proper coilpack, then ill give it a try! will post back to let know how i get on, Thanks!

It wont work properlly. it will run yes but it will be the same as the vtr making the engine swap pointless.

my vtr engine gave up and had a cammed 106gti engine to hand for £120 with everything on it so put it straight in, they're both single plug ecu but slightly larger on the pug engine, im now trying to source a vts engine loom off a mk1 saxo. I've heard they've got the same interior connection and the two connectors into the fusebox connection and all the sensor wiring for the 106engine, anyone on here know if that's correct? Thanks.
