Have recently bought a saxo vtr 51 plate and it has a terrible blow from the exhaust backbox..

I was wondering if getting an aftermarket backbox would either bolt striaght on or if i would need the whole system..
etc, 4-2-1 decat and backbox?

I am a little confused after reading through some of the other posts, and would any of you recommend a decent exhaust for a decent price.

Thanks in advance, Dan. :detective:

that will fit the stock fitments. should have a low tone to it, drony as some may call it. its basically th same as a toyosport sys which have large bore = lower tone

Why not go somewhere that will fit a custom exhaust. Then you can get whatever you want, whatever sound, and haggle the price? Also fitted so there's no messing about.

Because historically those powerflow places churn out some real garbage.

"poo-flow" as some people brand them

We've just replaced one on a seat Ibiza. The company had welded the down pipe to the exhaust system and it meant we had to cut the whole exhaust system off to replace it. They are cheap for a reason! The welding was nothing short of terrible. Basically I do better welding and I do it very rarely. The rust needed to be cleaned off before they welded the sections up but they couldnt be bothered. Off the shelf will usually be better if you choose the right company. You pay more for a better fit, better performance and often a better sound.

The thing is though, they arent cheap KAM, they are usually about £300 for a midpipe back. And as you spotted, though they are stainless, they weld them to whatever the crappy mild steel mid pipe is, so only last as long as the original exhaust system would have anyway.

powerflow also generally use the cheapest nastiest stainless you can get. Don't think because it's stainless it wont rust because with the stainless they use, it does. Back in the day (15+ years ago) they did good work. I've had probably 5 cars done at powerflow (place called Top Gear in St Albans to be exact) and the work was good on all but the last one. They've gone downhill. Prices have gone up, quality has gone down.

So what would be the best box to buy for my saxo 1.6 vtr? like a nice sound more than anything

iFurio

I have a full sportex system. mani, decat, racetube (center part or whaetever) and backbox, all were direct fit apart from the mani which was hassel fitting. I like the sound though :) and imo well worth the money i spent :)

hey all,

I have a hole in my downpipe and my lamber sensor has conveniently fallen out (Y) is there a way i can jack the car up from the front end or is there only the jack points by the wheels down the side?:panic:

i assume u ask because its been lowered. roll th front onto a pile of books, handbrake, jack it up from there. much easier :) also, welcome to saxp
