Hey guys, new to the forum! although been using this site for nearly a year now reading posts for advice!

Ill keep this short and simple.

i brought a Saxo furio 1.4 W-plate off a friend going on 11 months ago now. i discovered it had a VTR engine in so that was a bonus as it was stupidly quick! however it was battered to F**K! So i decided to turn it into a project as im only a student who has a lot of time on their hands!
The only things i did (due to weather and money) was replace the standard exhaust and brought a powerflow complete exhaust system and back box for £140 off ebay, brought a new rear bumper as this one had a MK1 rear bumper (poorly nailed in) and had different colour panels. i decided to paint this and so i opted for green (pics uploading) i changed the alloys also as it had 15inch ford alloys on with spacers - terrible too as they were all scuffed to hell.

anyway i did all that made it look nice on the outside and came to a point where everything needed to be done, u know the little things? like the gear knob plastic had snapped off so the gear knob kept coming off after i wrapped it with tape every few weeks, and even tried those little grub screws with a custom universal gear knob.. the gear stick also had loadddss of play, and i mean loads! then there was things like the traction was out a little, anti roll bars needed to be done, bushes had gone on front passenger side, and then the really small things like some lights wernt working properly and needed resorting, ... basically so much £££s to be spent making the car look... well standard ha!
The only enjoyful thing was it was cheap to insure, looks alright to viewers and drove and sounded shit hot!!!! 0-60 in about 8 seconds.

anyway. i didnt plan on buying another car, and not even another saxo but another friend of mine decided to sell his silver VTR W-plate complete with dimma kit, spoiler and boot panel. everything is smooth no key holes - all works off a fob, come with an alarm, 17 inch alloys(with spacers :/) low profile tyres, etc etc.. basically nothing needs doing accept a few touch ups and jobs ud like to do on a car to make it look sweeeett...and not... well as above "standard" (pic uploading)

so to my point..

My new VTR is apparently the old engine and has 90BHP?? Where as my Green saxo is the new VTR engine and has 98 BHP.. this doesnt bother me, but my new VTR is a lot slower? i know acceleration is going to be gone because of the 17 inch allows, that doesnt bother me and of course the p>W ratio is different due to the kit etc. but it seems loooaddsss slower?
my step dad who is a little familiar with performance changing mentioned i could try swapping the ECU as i have a reciept for it being modified somewhat on the green saxo...
my question is, would it be a good idea to swap the ECU's over before i decide to split my green saxo and sell it for spares??

i realise i havnt taken my new VTR on the motorway or givin it some hell down a country lane yet as ive only had it 4 days.. but i do like to give it some on a short dual-carriageway on the way to university!!

There is a few things different on this new VTR btw,
- It has a Decat pipe
- perhaps a standard exhaust centre pipe (still to check!) but has nice end can. my green saxo has the powerflow so i might change that over???
- performance uprated brake discs.
- obviously VTR engine and 1.6 gearbox, whereas my Green saxo has a VTR engine and a 1.4 gearbox?? would this make a massive difference? i know acceleration is effected; but again... wud it make that much of a differently??

My current worry is when i bought this VTR, it wasnt leaking oil or anything like that, but there is a bit of oil coming out of the filter.. i think its called that anyway aha (its the circular object coming out of the engine; commonly found on performance saxo's im guessing) basically that has a pipe coming out of it but doesnt connect to anything? i put that into the closes connection.. and that bogged the car down to the point where it would stall going up a hill ?

i realise this thus far is a little vague but dont get me wrong, the new VTR sounds and runs sweet. im just wondering if the performance is usual or if its an obvious wrong-doing of the previous owner.. i know the car isnt faulty in anyway as my friend took it to a trusted mechanic to get proof it is fit for sale to me :)

anyway sorry this turned out to be so long!
if u need any information about either of the saxos ill be glad to answer them!!

Nah thats nothing, mines got one so big it tore the inner arch lining (the metal one) away from the quarter panel so you can see inside from the outside :D

Not gonna lie OP - hope you got your flame suit on!

not gonna lie, that dent didnt even put me off i picked this car up for £530 so was a bargain. i can sort that dent out along with the very few scuff marks found on the kit.

The ecu is located in the engine bay on the left hand side, it should be under a square plastic cover

a 3 plug silvertop ecu is not a straight swap to a 1 plug 90 bhp silvertop

Your conversion engine has to be the same plug ( 3 or 1 ) for it to be a straight swap mate, or I think you can get your engine loom spliced!

Use the search button mate, it's very useful ;)

hmm i understand it looks chavvy, but tbf look at my green saxo.. its a bit of an upgrade! i had no intention of buying another saxo i wanted my green machine to be a project car over time. because i can insure a kwak 636 we have in garage if need be. but the fact is was so cheap i did see potential.

doesnt anyone like my dimma kit? :P

which car looks stuck on?

Body kit (including the huge gaping holes in the front bumper)
Spoiler
Emfreeeeees
Chinese writing decals
Fade tints
Rear lights
Alloy colour

All the above contribute to make that a complete Barry shed.

Why would you want it looking the state it is?

Bodykits can look goood but if i owned that. I would park it a mile from anywhere i lived/shopped/worked.
