Hi,

I am currently preparing a 2007 JP4 engine to go in a saxo VTS and I have an issue whereby the oil pressure switch "hole" is none existant above the oil filter on the front of the block and also I have no holes on the head at the gearbox end to use either to attach my switch.

My question is this, as there is a hole that I shall be tapping to an M10 thread and blocking up as part of my removal of the JP4 oil filter set up can I use this hole and source a pressure switch with an m10 thread as opposes to the m16 of the OE sensor? if so has this been done before? if so I presume thread enlargers etc are all a possibility but just thought I would ask if there was a common solution to this?

Regards

Craggy

Hi and Thanks,

However I believe my circumstance is different to this, the hole marked with a blue arrow on post #59 on your thread does not exist on my jp4 block, so I am propsing to use the hole marked with a red arrow in post #59 with a non OE pressure switch that has an m10 thread, I just don't know if its a possibility and what sensor to use, thanks

There is no pressure there, its just a drain to the sump.

oh bugger, cheers for that.

I see old threads mentioning the use of a sandwich plate to achieve this, I do not really know the mechanics of a sandwich plate. does a sandwich plate fitted initially to the thread protruding from the block where the oil filter would go then provide the plate with oil pressure?, and then I just need to find a sensor that will attach to the "outlet" if that's the word from the sandwich plate and screw the oil filter on top of the sandwich plate, or is it not that simple either!

ps if so can anyone recommend a plate to use

thanks

you got it.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR2.TRC0&_nkw=oil+filter+sandwich+plate&_sacat=0&_from=R40

what you will find is that most will be 1/8 NPT threads so not compatible with the original senders, you can either drill and tap to M10 or find a compatible 1/8 NPT sender/switch.

if your running a oil cooler you might have room to drill the sandwich plate for the standard sensor rather than risk drilling your block. That what i did last time.
