View Full Version : What Would You Do?

I'll try not to ramble to much but thought I'd get everyone's opinion.
Driving home from McD's last night down a relatively narrow street when I came to a woman lying on the ground right in the middle of the road. Wasn't quite sure what to do but a lone female (passer by) also stopped. At this point I got out the car as I wasn't going to leave them on their own.
My first thought was possible ploy for car theft so I got out, locked the Golf and put the keys in my pocket.
As I approached the female there was no movement but I DID notice a male stood around the corner about 20 feet away. We looked at each other, he said nothing.
I bent down beside the female and tried talking to her and rocking her gently. No movement, no answer, nothing. At this point the male started walking over and just stood there looking at me. I asked him if she was OK and he said nothing. I then asked him to help me move her onto the pavement out of the way of the road. He said nothing.
As soon as I tried to move her myself, he went mental. He launched me across the road and started screaming "Don't help her, leave her alone!"
At this point I backed off abit and tried talking to him. He just carried on shouting and walking towards me. At this point I decided enough was enough. I got in the car and drove away slowly so that I was beside the passer-by to make sure she was OK.
Did I do the right thing in leaving her? What would you have done?
Can't help but wonder if she's OK... but I wasn't putting my safety, my girlfriends safety or the other girls safety at risk by causing more trouble.

Might of been worth staying around the corner out of sight or something and phoning the police.
what you did was right, you havent added anything unnecessary to the situation.
I would have called the old bill and ring all nearby doors to ask for assistance.

Beaten the bloke up, raped the girl and fled the country.
Phone the police really.
Karlb1
13th May 2013, 11:08
As above really.
You did the right thing by not elevating the situation but I would have stayed close by and called the police, god knows what that bloke must have done to the girl on the floor but it sounds fucked up either way.

Wouldnt have done shit. Getting involved in that kind of crap will end up with you getting mugged, stabbed, raped or shot. Possibly all 4
I reckon they were trying to nick your car or someone elses

Hard to say what was best as you didnt know what put her there
That bloke probs sparked her out . . .
I think ringing the police would of been my move

Then when they noticed the car, the woman thought I don't want that shit and just played dead ;)

You did right, just out of curiosity were the people involved white or Asian? Yes in an instance like this it could make a difference.

Run the bloke over. That's if he jumped infront of your car when you got back in. Probably might have been an idea to stay close by and ring police, but in all honesty I'd have got away and stayed away, could have been more blokes just up the road for all you know
Wouldnt have done shit.
So what Jay did then :zainy:

What are you thinking? That maybe he didn't want her being touched because of religion or something?

Did you seriously not call 999 for a woman lying montioess on the floor and a suspicious bloke hanging around?!

13th May 2013, 12:57
Call the police as soon as the fella booted off, their payed to be heros and because firstly if he kicks your head in, or if you fight back then you risk getting done for assault or having to prove self defence.... Either way nightmare. Drive away call old bill and watch from a distance.

In the end I went home (literally 3 doors around the corner), called the police and watched from our window.
They were Polish for whoever asked above.

I think you did well, although I would of phoned the police. Bloke who used to work at my place pulled up to some cones across the road, he jumped out to move them, got jumped and the car nicked.

This was the first thing I thought of to be honest. You hear the stories all the time.
Because of work, I'll always try to help somebody if I can.

Did you even feel for a pulse or breathing? The man pushed you away so push the cunt back and explain to him what you are doing.
How can you even drive away from a situation like that tbh?

i would've said easy compadre
got back in the car and call/wait for the old bill (and maybe an ambulance) to get there
were you not curious to see what the outcome would be? i dont think i could leave her tbh
Not the same but similiar, i saw a cat on the road once which got hit by a car late at night. Me and my friends waited in my car for like 45 minutes for the rspca to get there

Yes I checked for a pulse! I'm first aid trained and use it more days than I don't.
Rule 1 of life. Your safety before any body else's. I tried to help but I'm not being stabbed or jumped for the sake of somebody else I don't know. For all I know, it still could be a ploy for car theft.

First thing I would have done being number 2 at an incident would be to ask the other person if she had checked vital signs and called the emergency services. I would also check vital signs myself just incase.
If I thought the man was acting suspicious I would go to my car and find something to protect myself and the jam roll on the floor whilst calling my friends to come just incase shit hits the fan and no emergency services turned up. I wouldn't drive off from the scene of an incident especially if I was uncertain of the persons safety not to mention condition.

This kind of thing is insane!
Maybe he kicked off because you touched his girlfriend, who was pretending to be k.o'd on the floor, and you locking your car foiled their plan and pissed him off
I would have called the cops then and there just in case.. but you did the right thing not hanging around and compromising your safety.

Surely, if they wanted to get your car Jay, the bloke would have twatted you one, taken the keys off of your semi conscious self, and tried to make away with the car? Unless he genuinely saw your car and realised ahhh shit look how low that fucking thing is! And don't get me started on the wheels! I'd rather drive Noddy's car, and then decided against your particular car? no......?

End of the day at least you've made an effort. I've been to jobs where someone has fallen off their motorbike and cars are weaving slowly between person and bike to get past instead if getting out to help. Favourites are the ones who see a serious RTC and then decide to sit and beep their horns as the road is blocked

I would've done pretty much as you did but definitely worth a call to the Police because as you said, it's a classic stunt for nicking cars and the fact the girl could've been genuinely hurt and needing medical attention but the fella had just had an argument with her or something.
Completely understand you backing off and keeping you and the missus number one. I'm sure you'd have heard something if she was badly hurt tbh.
Out of interest, could you smell any booze or exotic tobacco on him at all? May have been under the influence of something causing his behaviour?

Mate I think u did right, end of the day that man was spicous and probably had something to do with it. But u could of been the next victim and bye bye car too. If not worse state than her. Well done Jay, u did everything most people would honestly do. Plus no one would risk there life giving the man a mouthfull. Sounds like he was carrying a knife or sumat, maybe even more men waiting for u

should of just took a picture of her minge, squeezed her boob and fled the scene...
I would have said something like this.
I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let that random women go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.
Or
You come to this country, take advantage of the system and think because we are tolerant that we are weak and helpless. Your arrogance offends me. And for that the rate just went up 10%. And then shot him.

I think you did the right thing mate. I probably would have give him a slap for approaching me an that manner but, then again, i wasnt there and you was.... Things happen so weirdly and sometimes you have to be careful. For all you and I know he could of have a weapon.
Fair play for helping though. There's no way I'd be able to drive straight past a body on the ground ( unless the news had declared a zombie apocalypse ).
I must admit, after the bold section i was expecting. " So I ripped open my shirt to reveal a large S in a diamond shape, took some speaker wire and a large spanner out my boot, grotted him with the wire, tied him to the fence and beat him with a spanner, then punched the air with my fist and made off into the stars ".

As i said, I understand we all react differently in such situation, but if I'm trying to help someone and some lurky dude approaches me, as the guy put it, " launched me across the road ", Yes I definitely would retaliate, why wouldn't you ?
Obviously the slap was figure of speech but what would you do, stand there and let him attack you ?

No, as i've said. Give the guy a slap was figure of speech.
I certainly would not just let some guy throw me across the road if my trying to help someone.
Not knocking OP, he probably did the right thing but knowing how dodgy some people can be, if i see a guy walking towards me, if he's got a weapon ( you don't know ) I'd probably react in fear of this possibility.

I responded to it in that manner as well, slapping a would be attacker/random nutter isn't a great idea... I'd go for a eye gauge or nut cracker.
If I felt threatened then I'm sorry but sod the person on the floor for the time being, I would be outta there to a safe distance. I pretty sure in this scenario the first thing I'd do before getting out the car would be ringing 999 and talking the situation through over the phone so someones on their way ASAP.

Of course.... no doubt. I think if a guys approaching me acting all weird then, he's got some other agenda.
That's what would probably prompt me to react, is his shiftyness and weird behaviour, the minute he approaches you and touches you i think your looking at knocking him out for self defence.
Like he said in the initial post you see this kinda thing all the time where a girl lies down, then guy hiding in bushes steals car lol.
