View Full Version : Cutting out at low revs/VTS Engine Sensors - help!

Car is running fine at high revs, motorway for example but around town or pulling away from a junction it is very lumpy and occasionally cuts out. Seems to be idling higher than normal too.

It did this a couple of years back and it was the fuel filter. Changed the fuel filter again today but no luck. Have also changed spark plugs. Coil pack is only a year or so old and looks fine. Lambda sensor has also recently been changed.

What else could it be?

Started looking at some of the sensors in the engine bay and noticed this:

What sensor is it? It connects into the throttle body and the coilpack and looks to go down into the engine bay.. The resin has come off the back of it but all of the wires seem ok.

I'm thinking it could be this sensor or any other of the sensors in the engine bay. Is getting a diagnostics test done the best bet? Cheers for any advice...

Can't make that out from pic, but could be your temp sensor causing it

Where abouts is the temp sensor?

The thing is, I don't want to start replacing each sensor as some are £40+ each! Would a diagnostics show up which sensor it is causing the issue or don't they go that much in depth?

Are the wire broken off the sensor?

Sorry my bad didn't read the first post all the way through

No they are all completely fine. At first I saw it and thought shit this is the issue, but after closer inspection all it seems is that the rubber backing has just worn away.. So I'm thinking this may not even be the problem.

Temp sensor is green and the plug is the same colour and is right next to the blue sensor

That in your hand joins to the coilpack??

There is a sensor a little white one directly under the tb. has that not snapped off?

That would be awesome :y: Didn't know you had the equipment! You still based in Ringwood?

Oh ok I'll have a further look tomorrow.

Yeah it plugs into the side of the coilpack, and the other part of it plugs into the throttle body as can be seen in the pic and one single wire goes into the engine, it then goes down into the engine bay somewhere. I want to find out which sensor it is.

Didn't see anything under the tb but I'll look again. Cheers for help
