There's several excellent guides on the forum - please look at the stickies and you'll get all the information you need. :)

If you have specific questions after reading those turbo threads, pop back and ask. There's several experienced turbo owners on the forum :)

Where? Lol I know blackie has a good setup for a fair budget... Planetsaxx has a supercharged...

I have a question tho... Could you run boost with itb's?? (Ross i havent looked at yours yet...)

standard evo 6 turbo, kicks in at 1,500 rpm so there isn't any lag

or so I have been told

Presumably from John @ GMC ;)

evo turbo is a good choice, but "kick in at 1500rpm" on a 1.6 8v saxo it wont... :p

It is (as John says) a good choice though. :)

technically YES -- but i would need a good reason to do so --
like you are running very wild cams and boost comes on high up the rpm range .
If the engine was a full race spec making 200 n/a @8k ,then adding a wiff of s/c boost(7psi) from say 6k onwards should lift it to 300 bhp ,but you still have the downsides of a wild cammed car at low rpms .boost = wild cams only work well at high rpms

there is no advantage to do so for all normal conversions

Okay you will be best off just running a mf2 5th injector if you're only after a small increase but its still not cheap as you can't just throw a turbo on and go screaming up and down the road.

Like most people around my area think :homme:

Was thinking cams and some head work then see where it leads me lol

No offense mate but that attitude will lead you into £1,000's thrown at your car... That i want more... See where i go from here... You need a target to go for then if you feel you can go on again then do so... Money is the biggest influence and unless your budget is bottomless then have a target...

Im not saying its bad many of the best creations come from the i want more... But what the head wants and the pocket can afford are 2 different things

Duely noted... Just not seen it done and wondered if it was possible or been done...

everything you can think of has been by someone befroe ,but not always very successfully.
I have seen an evo with 4 turbo,s one on each exhaust port --but never seen it repeated

Murray-

What kind of bhp would it be putting out if I was to put a evo 6 turbo on and newmans ph3 cams

Whats the use of the car? (Daily, track only, race, weekend) Reason for modifying (more fun, wanna go faster...) rough power output?

Once you know these then people can advise on setup and bits....

Murray-
20th June 2013, 20:44
Just a daily car want it to go faster and just a rough guess of the bhp cos I have no idea at all

Anymore than about 140 - 150 and youll start having other problems, controlling it on normal road tyres...

Murray-
20th June 2013, 21:48
Will be upgrading the tires just got budget on it just now because it came with it but got a few sets of tires got pirreli's and a set of toyo aswell

Is there a reason you want to stay with the 8v vtr?

Murray-

Well just passed my test in December so the vtr is cheaper than the s for insurance

and have you looked into insurance on a heavily modified VTR!???

+1

Not telling the insurance is a mugs game...

And not being funny... Get used to the power of the vtr... 90-100bhp is more than enough to start on... If you boost it say 150bhp thats about 120-125 atw... On 185/55/14 wheels even with toyos on you come off a roundabout in 2nd and stamp on the throttle you will torque steer into a hedge, kerb, on comming traffic... Whilst it is cool to have a boosted saxo and show up things that should be quicker... It aint cool sat there looking at your car thinking... Well im in the shit... Assuming you can walk away from it...

Might just stick an induction kit on it then and wait till I get a vts since the insurance drops by 3k and possibly modify that

That's a smart move. Most Saxo owners like the idea of a Turbo but in reality it rarely happens. I wouldn't bother entertaining the idea unless you can do most of the work yourself or money is no object otherwise you will end up with a bodge job which costs a huge amount trying to keep it going.

Drive a VTS and see what you think first, they are fairly nippy and a huge improvement over the VTR anyway.
