I have seen a lot of threads referring to 1 plug or 3. What is the differences between them. I know one has only one plug and the other 3 before somebody comments. Is it dependant on vehicle i.e VTS / VTR

Nope . Mk1 is single plug, mk2 is 3 plug. then you have cross overs witch can be anything Citroen had at the time.

With me just purchasing a vehicle which is all new to me , I am trying to understand the system and can I utilise any of the wiring within a bespoke loom.

How do you identify a "cross over"?

Is the three plug connectors split down in anyway. ie. Connection 1 injection , Connection 2 ignition etc.

The crossover is a massive round plug

I have picked the car up 2003 VTR. A 3 plug ECU and a large plug behind the nsf headlight, I presume this is the crossover plug you mentioned.

What components go through this plug , is it body electrics , engine components?. Can this plug be eliminated / bypassed. Where can I find the pin allocations for this plug. I want to eliminate all un necessary wiring from the engine bay and interior.

Before removing the main ECU is there anything I have to be aware of ? I don't think I will have any use for this component again.

Is there a standard pin assignment for this crossover plug?
