hi all, i was told to fit vts cams in my jp4 head i also need the vts pullies as well, is this true? IE are the jp4 pullies no good with j4 cams??

also do i only fit vts springs/caps if i want aftermarket cams? I was told jp4 springs/head internals can cope with oem j4 cams

The jp4 doesnt rev as high and with a larger valve they have more mass that gets thrown around... The best thing todo is if your going for performance, be on the safer side is to get some after market springs (vts ones will probably be fine just i like peace if mind) and fit the vts cams as they are wilder than the standard jp4 cams... After market cams you have the be careful of because things like the 743 and ph3 will require cut out pistons... Kam racing do a cam specially for the jp4 head on a j4 bottom end... 705 catcams i think... But to start j4 springs and caps and cams will sort you out :)

thanks mate

yea i know a fair amount about the jp4 engine the 705 are basically the jp4 version of the saxo 708's and there is a ph3 cam that is made for the jp4 as well as the j4 engine so doesnt require cut outs

its mainly the pullies, ive never heard of people swapping to j4 pullies with vts cams

my old j4 engine had 708's and jenveys on standard springs so im sure j4 springs and caps will cope fine :) only paid £50 for the engine so i dont want to buy expensive springs if i dont have to so for the time being im jsut gonna build the head up with j4 cams/pullies/springs and caps, dont think i could fit an engine and only have 110bhp lol especially when 125bhp is easy to get with oem parts

i was told the collets and followers are the same, guessing this is true??

I was told if you fit J4 cams into a JP4 head, the lifters don't sit very central on the cam lobes. I'm sure someone will verify if that's true or not.

I guess the only reason you'd fit J4 pulleys is because they're adjustable unlike the JP4 items.

I'm running vts cams with vts springs and the JP4 fixed pulleys in my JP4 engine with no issues...

yea that is right the cam lobes are offset slightly so the lobes dont hit the lifters centerally but thats down to how anal you are really if you want to risk it or not
