hey people! ive just got myself a another vtr/s just taken the gearbox out because i needed to do a clutch! but now im struggling to get the gearbox back in?! any easy ways of getting it in by urself? as ive got no help at moment? cheers pez

Haynes "Fitting is reverse of removal" :P
Joking aside. You need to align the clutch, I suspect maybe you haven't got it dead central OR you need to rotate either the crank or gearbox input shaft to align up the splines.
It shouldn't be that hard, it can be a bit fiddly with the locating pins etc.

yea i know about the splines, its just trying to get the gearbox in it keeps hittin the things and wont f*****g go in! gettin on my tits haha

Are you using an engine support bar? :o maybe let the engine drop a bit so it's at a better angle?
maybe you should go away for a few hours, have a break, and try again after a cup of tea :P

I struggled with mine the first time I did it. I found lining the box up to the block with some spare head bolts worked a treat :)

no the engine isnt held by a engin bar i just tied it towards the rad as somone said its abit more easy like that.. but it isnt!!

Yeah you don't want it tied too far forward.
Using head bolts is a good idea if you've got any old ones lying about. they're the same thread.
You've just got to hold it in exactly the right orientation. It's fiddly.
