mocal thermostatic plate

just bought a thermostatic plate oil cooler setup...

question is...

is the temperature of which is opens adjustable or can you buy different temperature thermostats? ive looked over the tintertwat alot but cant find anything...

Iirc it opens at a preset iirc 86 degree? Cannot be changed I don't think, Something like when only when the viscosity of the oil is thinner to pass through it when the engine oil is up to temprature, as it would take longer for it to warm up if it was constantly flowing through the cooler keeping it cold - something allong that lines, someone correct mw if I'm rong :)

tbh i thought it was 82 but either way is it possible to get it to open sooner? 60 degrees say?

Why would you want it to open at 60 degrees? Most oils aren't even working until about 80+

just thinking for longer track periods, the oil was getting to 125 degrees and i dont think that an oil cooler will take 45 degrees off that, to make it a sensible temperature...

more thinking if it opens sooner it will take longer to get to a point where it would become not effective..

see where im comming from? ok maybe 60 is abit too soon, but for colder weather slap the 82 degree one in...

Less is more, fit a 13 row and see what happens. If you need more cooling then fit a bigger cooler. Having something hit earlier wont make any difference when you're belting it full chat.
You got the standard heat exchanger? Seen people use both, sandys posts on rallye register seem to have praise for it.

as mentioned, if you dont have enough cooling then the answer is not to fit a lower temp thermostat, it is to fit a radiator that can cope with the heat rejection, either a larger one, more efficient or improve the airflow over your existing one.

120degC sump temp is not at the point where I would begin to worry. Most fully synthetic oils are stable at 130degC+

You could run a cooler stat in water system and box in the rad. Should drop temps a bit.

Ive cut the center of the stat out... Its only in there for the water pressure and flow across the head....
