not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes. as i was driving to work this morning i turned a corner and the steering went really stiff and felt like it wouldn't turn fully. i don't think i stalled but my lights came on like they do when a stall occurs. could this have happened because of a stall. i turned the ignition of and on again and continued my journey and everything was fine, anybody know why this may have happened. also when i was stopped earlier in the journey to let someone through the rev gounter needle was moving up and down about 200 rev. thanks in anticipation nat

sounds like you either stalld or engine cut out

this would cause the steering togo heavy as the power steering wouldnt work

i had the same problem, i dont think u stalled altho u may have, a stall on a saxo wudn't cut the power steering out tho as it is electric!!

my car did the same then the power steering went altogether! it's your power steering pump my friend, the bearing have worn out inside, u can either like me drive around with on off heavy steering for a while, get ya pump reconditioned or buy a sencond hand 1, at the moment i am lookin for 1. oh n for the lights goin off, mine did the same, think its the strain of the electrical system as the pump is tryin to turn and it cant, sappin power from the lights etc.....

hope this helps!!

the rev counter thing is also to do with the battery power being sapped, also check your earth straps to both the chassis and the gearbox, these can cause that problem too. they need cleaning up if they're rusty, a bit of sand paper will do. :D

actually reading your statement again sounds like its just the earth straps n not the pump, sry for that confusion
