hi there, i have a 97 mk1 vtr on my drive which unfortunately has had a back end hit :(

i am just wondering what other cars this engine can be put in? (apart from another saxo or 106)

it seems such a waste to get rid of the car when the engine is good with a brand new clutch in it.

so any one know what other cars i could use to put the engine in to broaden my search? as there are no cheap saxos or 106's near me. needs to be a relatively simple engine swap

thanks in advance

All other 106s and saxo's if there petrol will be easier, also as long as they have the same ecu plug (load of the m from the same or close years what the same ecu plugs there's only 3 types so it's pretty easy to find one that suits you, then unlock the ecu yourself (find the guide if you don't know how it's easy) and it's plug and play mate

Hope this helps Kieren need any info pm me

thanks really good info!

im trying to find a cheap saxo or 106 around the same sort of year close to me quite cheap but there is none. id prefer one around the same year as mine because i know about different plugs so if its near the same age then there is a bigger chance it has the same plug, right? haha

Yeah that is the case, what year is your vtr and is the engine the black top with rectangles on it or silver top with the oil fill cap in the centre (referring to the rocker cover) ?

it is a 1997, engine is a black top although the oil fill cap is near the center if i remember correctly? with three rectangles on it

Yeah I know the one, just make sure the ecu connector is the same and it's a straight swap, it should be single plug which 3 rows of pins but may be single plug with 2 rows so make sure you check both your car and the car your buying so you know there the same

AX, some 206, some 306, some 205, some xsara.....

An R engined AX is good fun (don't forget the brakes)

ax sounds interesting ;) dont like 206's really. 306 would be too heavy, 205 is a good idea aswell.

cheers chap

Ax would be fun but there so tiny inside, I thought a saxo was small but they feel smaller aha
