View Full Version : Temp Gauge Rising + Oil Under Front Right Tyre

Hello, Sorry if this is the wrong forum.

I filled my radiator with pre-diluted anti freeze I bought in Halfords, since then the temp gauge has been rising and stays roughly 3/4 of the total (Half way between middle and the red zone). I'm guessing this can be fixed by bleeding the radiator? Just wanted to check before I attempt it because I don't want to cause any damage.

Also since that has happened I have noticed black spots below the engine next to the front right tyre, I think its oil although I'm not sure. Could it be related and what could the cause be?

Thank you.

Did you not bleed the system when you changed the coolant?
If so, that could be a cause for the high temperatures... how long have you ran it like this?
Reason I ask is there's clearly air pockets in the cooling system, This causes the system to run at a higher pressure and CAN cause head gasket (and other issues). I wouldn't be surprised if the drip is oil from the head gasket as its been ran without the system being bled properly.

Hi thank you for the reply. I put the pre diluted coolant into the engine just before Christmas, I only went on one trip which was long enough for the temp gauge to rise (20km). Unfortunately I have absolutely no knowledge on how to bleed the engine, I have looked at a Youtube video but that was just images.

Could you possibly provide a guide on how to do it with a Saxo and where the screws are located? Also what tools would I need?

Sorry for the questions, i just don;t want to cause any damage.

Thank you.
