Just wondering if this is the correct temperature sensor for a Mk2, 100bhp, 51 plate VTR?
It has 3 pins on the sensor but only 2 wires coming from the plug??
The plug:

Has that 3rd wire been cut or has it broke?

According to the manual it has two wires, unless I'm reading it wrong but I'm sure it is.

Dont know, I thought it was meant to be like that?! If there is meant to be a 3rd wire, I'm screwed :(

If its the coolant temperature sensor then its definitely TWO wires:y:

I can't see anything else on the wiring diagrams that refers to three wires, even the cooling fan switch has only two wires.

Looking at the picture of the switch in the manual itself there appears to be two wires only.

Which one is the fan switch? Because my fan stays on constantly...although that could be because the temp sensor is broken??

The cooling fan switch is on the end of the radiator I believe.

The temperature gauge switch/sensor is on the block,as in the picture.

Also.....have you looked at the cooling fan switch?strange that its on all the time, its obviously getting a positive feed so the switch is more than likely fecked.....or its related to this.

that's a three plug engine, so the ecu controls it all, fuelling, dash and fan iirc.

My VTR came like this.

It's not broken, its insulated all round, like a blank.
