View Full Version : Is it worth getting my VTS mapped?

I've got a cammed VTS with a decat saxsport and a mani etc etc

It's not been mapped and made 141bhp on the rollers, Automark up this way can map it for about £300

I'm wondering if it's worth doing?

Do you plan on doing anything else to it?

Occasionally he gets it out of the garage and washes it if that counts?

I hear mapping can make the monkeys wash it for you :panic:

If your planning on fitting performance camshafts then I would wait until you've fitted them before you get it re mapped also depending on what cams you get ie Newman phase 3 then they will require a map.

It's already cammed.

Yea I would defiantly have it mapped, what cam's are in it?

He already said it is cammed. A map would make it run/idle better, less overfuelling etc unlikely see big bhp gains from it tho.

Piper 270s, it idles like my old legacy!

I'm going to run it until I blow it up then do something sexy engine wise

I'm just wondering what the real pros are of getting it done

Well if you don't intend to do any further mods to the engine then getting it mapped would improve the overall running and may increase your BHP and tourque.

But if you're running it into the ground I'd save the money and spend it on nice noisey things for the new engine.

It will smooth out the power and torque curves, give you a small amount of power/torque (around 4-5bhp & lb/ft)

Generally see a smoother idle and mine was a lot easier to drive low down the rev range. Your fueling will be fixed to as it will likely bee lean and rich at different parts of the rev range. Also the extra 2-300 revs help.

With those cams, I think any gains would be negligible and crap value for money.

If you're seriously considering mapping, get some Catcam 734s lobbed in first.

Would have thought they would have been first thing on your "to purchase" list then.

Find a mapping company who offer a 7 day
Refund and return to stock if your not happy
With the file like I do , then if your not impressed
Have the original file put back and get your cash back .

"Chipping" companies might offer this but I've never heard of a mapping company doing this. Do you have an example?
