Hello,

I've almost assembled all parts to cam my vtr.

I understand to fit them i'll need a dial gauge - can anyone recommend a good one?

I was looking at these;

Sealey AK961M - 10mm travel in 0.01mm graduations (http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/tools/hand-tools/construction-and-craft/measuring-and-comparison-tools/?SEAAK961M&0&t5_193)

Sealey AK9611M - 30mm travel in 0.01mm graduations (http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/tools/hand-tools/construction-and-craft/measuring-and-comparison-tools/?SEAAK9611M&0&t5_193)

(I think i'll also need a magnetic stand)

Opinions?

What do you need a dial gauge for? Are you engine building?

Fitting a cam - catcams and piper website says i'll need a dial gauge along with a cam disc to fit/time it properly?

I'd let your mapper do it tbh, unless you love buying tools, who doesnt eh :D

I do love buying tools as it happens!

Its only a Piper 285 and I wouldn't be mapping it for a quite/if at all so it'd be me doing the whole job.

you dont need a dial gauge to fit that, just fit the vernier pulley and pin it in the standard position, it wont collide with the pistons so dont worry

but in answer to your question 0-30 as you will be able to use it for more things in future

Excellent thanks.

I've got an adjustable pulley to go on as well so we'll see how it goes.

you ALWAYS need to check the timing with anything non standard.
