There seems to be 2 954 engines available... A 60bhp and a 50 bhp. Does anybody know what makes up the difference? Piston size, cam, injection system, etc etc?
Thanks

They're all 50hp (injected) old carbed version that come in 106's are about 45hp.

60hp is the 1.1. This mix up comes from people calling the 1.1 a "one litre".

Parkers, vosa, etc, show the 2 different outputs from the engines...
I have also seen reference to a 989cc? Could be wrong with that though?

There is definately a engine in a 1.0 saxo spec'd at 60bhp. I trying to find out what part gives the extra output?

Parkers say there is only one 1.0 engine at 50bhp. And its 954cc, there isn't a 989cc engine.

What does it matter anyway? Whether its 50 or 60 bhp its still completely shit. Not even worth bothering with.

It's worth bothering with if regs say you can only use a 954,

On parkers, East coast 1.0 and 1.1 both 60bhp and mischief 1.0 is 60bhp??
And this is the case if you check elsewhere!
So thanks for your response,

But... I will ask again... Where does the extra power come from?
(Not whether there is or isn't the extra power, but where it is produced within the 954?)

The extra power obviously comes from a lower brace and b8's!

What is this whole lower brace and B8 thing?! Everyone on facebook is just commenting on every saxo pic asking if theyve got a lower brace and B8s for the extra power?! what have I missed :panic:

It adds 50bhp - everyone knows that!

there's only one variant of the TU9 in a saxo, the TU9M single point injection 50 bhp.

TU1 1124 engine has a few variants, some SPI (TU1M) and later TU1JP which is multipoint post 2001, both the same 60 bhp but better on emissions, extra torque too.

TU1 Carb versions were 55 bhp.

There definitely isn't an OEM spec 1.0 with 60hp.

Parkers is filled in by users. It's not manufacturer data.

There are no standard TU parts that will make the 954cc have more power.

Also, it shares a cylinder head with the 1.1 as well (the SPi versions). same camshafts etc. the ONLY difference is the capacity.
