Finding it difficult to get any information about which cambelt I need for my 1.1 2001 desire

There are two options 100 and 104 teeth

In an ideal world I would just whip the old belt off, check the teeth and jobs a good 'un, but due to location/time constraints I cant get away with that. Ideally I need to buy the belt+other bits I need to give my engine an overhaul and back on the road within a day or two on a budget

Does anyone have any idea about how to find out which belt I need? countless searches have come up with nothing on the forum or internet.

Engine is a TJ1UP iirc.

Cheers for any help!

when you give your reg to whoever you'd be getting it off it should come up with the correct one dude

Go on Euro car parts and put in your registration and the right one will come up. Got mine from there

Whip the cam belt covers off, rotate the engine by hand and get counting

Or go to citroen main dealers & get the kit mate.

TU1JP INJECTION UNTIL ENGINE 3762433 104T.

TU1JP INJECTION SINCE ENGINE 3762434 100T.

easy, long belt uses traditional eccentric roller secured with a bolt, short belt looks to have a sprung tensioner sat on a stud with a nut.

A 2001 will be 104 teeth

Pretty sure the later ones are 100 teeth with auto tensioner.

other ones are 104 teeth with manual tensioner.

Both belt types will fit, as long as you fit the kits with the correct tensioner style.

No you can't interchange them , the 100 tooth auto-tensioner cambelt uses a smaller diameter camshaft sprocket (and obviously cranksheft sprocket). It won't fit over the larger sprockets of the earlier models. I think changeover was late 2001/early 2002 .

That would make sense. The sprocket sizes are:

The earlier models are 21/42

Later models are 19/38 (from engine number 3762434)
