hi , could anyone help me
ive been and viewed a saxo vtr 8v turbo today and put down a deposit to secure it , the clutch is going but still drives , i took it for a test drive and it seem to be slower than my standard vtr , could this be due to overboost , as it didnt seem to be running right , i think the guy told me it might need to be tuned (what would he mean by this < a remap ??)
i can post pictures of the engine so you guys can see what the setup looks like
hope someone can help thanks

Yes he means a re-map. You can re-map a standard ecu but it will run better with a standalone such as predator, omex, emerald etc.

Ok cheers , I will get the clutch sorted first and get someone to take a look at it to make sure the kit has been setup right as I'm not sure if it needs any think else to make it run right

It looks like the turbo is plumbed straight into the inlet, so will be feeding the engine hot air, it really needs an intercooler.
If he's missed that I imagine it's on standard injectors so you'll need those, and also looks like a standard ecu which will be why it's running so badly to get it setup properly your going to need engine management like omex, pred, etc.
If you have to buy these things new and have them fitted and setup I would budget around £1500

Okay thanks for help , if I was to install an intercooler for now and have the standard ecu mapped would that be fine to run on for now until I sort engine management ? , the car has cost me £1000 how it is so I though it's was quite cheap , as I wouldn't have to put as much money into it as starting from a standard vtr

The only things you have saved on are the manifold (which is a standard cast one with a turbo flange welded on) and the turbo, so it depends on the condition of the rest of the car as to how much of a bargain it was.
Your still going to need bigger injectors and afaik chip wizards are the only people who will be able to map the standard ecu, and I'm not sure if even they can get it to run a turbo setup properly.
The other option is to go old school and run a 5th injector and piggyback ecu just to run that, but I'm not sure if anyone still does this? I know cituning used too (it'd be cheaper but not really the proper way to do it)

Okay I think il just get saving to get it done properly , the car is in mint condition inside and out , the engine has done 70k , would it be alright to drive work and back if I take it steady , after the 9th of Feb my other car will be off the road so I will be putting this saxo on the road

I'd personally return it to standard till your ready to turbo it properly, as forcing hot air into your engine for any significant amount of time is not going to do it any favours.
A 2nd hand exhaust manifold and air filter can be had for peanuts and that's all u need really

that's that blue one on ebay isn't it? as said, it's not got an intercooler, and it's on standard management.

Not the best photo, I am afraid it looks a lot like its one from turbo doctor. The fellow who got banned from SSC for trying to sell shan trubo kits. He and his friend was trying to sell them under tones of aliases on dozens of ebay accounts, on multiple forums under many user names and on other online sites like swapz. I would be very carful about getting that car. It's not from Blackpool is it?

Apparently the guy who had it before ran it with the turbo for 30k before he blew the engine , the guy I'm buying it off had a 70k engine put in it but since that been put in he hasn't had it setup properly , I'd say the pipe work could do with a tidy up but as I already have a standard vtr il be putting this one back to standard u till I get the parts I need to have it running properly

There's a few ecu's you can choose from, I have a 3 plug predator ecu, and 329 saab injectors :y:

Just wondering, you bought this car without knowing anything about the mods it got?
What are you going to do the first time it stops or the turbo needs a service?
