Hi guys,

I know...I know....another manifold question, I am sorry!

Here goes, I have got myself a Sportex 4 brand manifold for my mk2 (manicat) vtr, so it'll get rid of the catalytic converter too :) I got the manifold for £50 second hand, cleaned it up nice so good as new (I hope!).

What happens with the post cat sensor, its got both sensors in and they won't come out (rusted in) so the post cat sensor will have to stay there.

Questions :

1) Will it throw up a management light?
2) How will it run?
3) Will be be much louder without the cat and having the tubular manifold? (rest of the system is supersprint off KamRacing)
4) Will it have any negative effects on engine management and fueling?
5) How do I stand legally, lets say I get pulled over while driving and they notice?
6) MOT no chance of passing emissions? Swap the cat back on?

Sorry for the questions, I can't find a definite answer and want some answers that'll confirm my thoughts.

Many thanks for any feedback.

Dan

1) Will it throw up a management light? -

Not if you have both Lamba plugged in and the post cat lamba sleeved and in fresh air (behind the headlight)

2) How will it run? - (should run exactly the same if the sensors are as above)

3) Will be be much louder without the cat and having the tubular manifold? (rest of the system is supersprint off KamRacing) - (removing the cat made the most difference in terms of noise on my VTR)

4) Will it have any negative effects on engine management and fueling? (Not if you have the sensors as above)

5) How do I stand legally, lets say I get pulled over while driving and they notice? - (go easy on the throttle, if you get pulled they probably won't notice, if they do the police can't do anything except send you to the MOT station for a emissions test iirc)

6) MOT no chance of passing emissions? Swap the cat back on? - (its not about passing emissions, the problem is not having a cat fitted, there needs to be a cat on a vehicle if it had one when it left the factory. Find yourself a friendly tester who likes £10 in the sun visor or chuck a cat back on)

A3 passed my emissions test, plus £15

Just hope you don't get pulled by a mobile vosa station for question 5. Chances are slim though.
