Hi all,

Putting a jp4 head on the j4 bottom end, had sent the head to engineering shop to get j4 valve springs etc swapped into the head. Started putting it all together yesterday and noticed two holes that dont really make sense.

One is right behind the cambelt cover so im thinking there is meant to be a core plug there? Pic below.

And one smaller one on top beside the coild pack. The j4 head has a small core plug here so im sure its the plug.

If anyone can confirm that there is meant to be core plugs here i will be forever grateful lol

Cheers

I'm 99% sure (although haven't checked against my own photos) that those shouldn't be blocked but just left how they are.

Use a airline to find out if its waterways then it will need core plugs :y: the j4 i have has core plugs in those places as i just replaced them. Just dont tap them in too far! if you need the part numbers i might be able to find them, what peugeots was the jp4 in?

Yes I may well be wrong. I had a quick look through my jp4 photos but can't see anything from the correct angle I'm sorry.

Yeah mate the j4 has 25mm plug at that part and an 11mm plug at that top part. I knocked them out to see if they fit but too big haha

They are oil passages, i can look right thru and see sunlight, the hole at the opposite end is a breather pipe that connects into the tune that connects to another pipe into the block

Yeah the oil breather is at one side but the hole in the top pic is cover by the back cambelt cover

i spent an evening hunting through pictures on the net and every one didnt have a plug top of the side so im just going ahead with leaving it open. no wonder the jp4 breathes so well if its all open lol
