Hi guys,
Is there any chance a healthy recently serviced Saxo vtr will scrape through the emissions test? The engine is on 86k and has 4-2-1 manifold, supersprint cat back and panel filter. The engine runs real nice.
Having no visible cat can be ignored according to my mot buddy, but it must pass the emissions. He thinks theres a chance if the car is running 100% and is nice and hot.
Any of you guys managed to get through it with no cat?
Thanks
Dan

Pretty unlikely. Mine failed with a brand new cat fitted.

No because regardless of emissions the mot tester will visually check for a cat.Best bet is either fit a cheapy cat pass the mot then remove it.Or have a quiet word with the tester.:drink:

I have had a chat with him (my best mates dad) and he will turn a blind eye to the visual check for a cat, but must pass the emissions test.
I don't want to refit the manifold and cat (phase 2 vtr) due to my 4-2-1 manifold being an arse to fit, the manifold and decat pipe are as one, and I found it a pain to fit (radiator in the way of the tubular mani). Now its on, I want it to stay on! lol

Ditto. You don't get a 4.2 V8 with decats through emissions any other way either :p

Sure Do, that's how Dom got the S3 through with bald rear tyres, he's got silky gullet and no gag reflex

Could get a terra clean done on it check emissions on it first and see what it reduces down after. Well worth it if it has done 80 to 100k miles on it.

itshould not -- but maybe a nice mot tester might help --just refit cat and remove after test

It'll never pass emissions without a cat. ever.
0.2% CO? bit tight, especially for an old 8v TU with 86k on it.
If it's the same as in your display picture, it's an 02 plate and definitely a 3 plug ECU with 2 lambda probes. If one of them is unplugged due to decatting then it'll never pass because the fuel trim will be incorrect.
