Bleeding vts!

Hi all. Is there any sequence/way of bleeding the cooling system on the 2001 VTS. I am running without a stat as I'm hillclimbing it and have the fan wired to a switch. I know where the two bleed screws are, so any help appreciated.

why do you want to run without a thermostat?

wrong --you want engine at correct temp --the temp your car was mapped at

Hi axsaxoman. I took stat out after she overheated last year. Checked rad, flushed out, fitted new water pump and bled properly. On the road, she runs cool. Up the hill at half. Last year suspected stat, didn't have new one with me,so cut the centre out. Ran well. But as you said not at what she's mapped for. I notice she pinks on the road when you put your foot down.

If it's pinking, the map is probably wrong if it's been mapped. either the ignition or the octane of fuel you're using.

You should bleed these with a header of water, cold and engine OFF. That's what Peugeot state, that's what I've always done and I've never ever had an issue.

Removing the stat won't help you, over cooling will just increase engine wear because it won't heat up properly :y:

Yes bled it successfully using that method, so I'll put the stat in and try again. I suppose its a bit of a different kettle of fish to my old mk2 escort I last raced 20 years ago. Not used to all this mapping and ecu's and sensors. Used to plugs and points and stats out. At least you could adjust timing and mixture then.:y:

If you had an 8v, you could have fitted a head from a 205 with dizzy, and put on a set of carbs. :P
